Reached 12 thousand acres

General Manager Murat Onkardeşler said, “Our President Tunç SoyerThe story of the 2011-year-old seed karakılçık wheat, which emerged with the seed exchange event initiated by Seferihisar in 8 during the Seferihisar Mayoralty and later turned into Turkey's largest local seed movement, is important. The adventure, which started with a bag of seeds in the village of Gödence, Seferihisar, has spread over 1 thousand acres of land today. Our President Tunç Soyer One of his first goals after taking office as the Metropolitan Mayor was to realize the vision of Another Agriculture is Possible. Supporting and disseminating local animal breeds and local seeds were among the most important objectives of the project. As in meat and dairy products, we provided free seed support to producers through İZTARIM by making a purchase guarantee contract for karakılçık wheat. A contract was signed with the producers to whom seed support was given, and a 'double price' policy was put into effect to spread the project. Accordingly, we have committed to give double the price announced by the Turkish Grain Board to our producers of karakaçik wheat at harvest. We planted 80 tons of ancestral bark and reed rye seeds on an area of 2022 thousand decares in 4 and provided support of approximately 4 million liras to our farmers. In the harvest of 2022, we obtained 350 tons of product and distributed some of these seeds for the 12 production season to be planted on approximately 2023 thousand acres.”
Record number reached
Emphasizing that the karakılçık wheat, which was planted on 2023 thousand decares with more than 500 producers for 12, reached a record number during the harvest period and signed the biggest local seed movement in Turkey with over 500 tons of products, Onkardeşler said, “We gave our producers more than 30 million liras over this year's price expectations. We will make the payment,” he said.
