During the operation carried out at Istanbul Airport by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams, 1 kilo 484 grams of Afyon gum was seized in a Turkish delight box.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, as a result of the risk analysis carried out by the NarkoKIM teams of the Istanbul Airport Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate, the shipments sent abroad from Turkey in the cargo section of Istanbul Airport, whose recipient and sender are foreign nationals, were considered risky.

The post, to which the narcotic detector dogs reacted intensely, was subjected to a detailed search. When the shipment was opened, it was found that the Turkish delights in the package, which looked like a gift box with its outer box and contents, were filled with drugs. In the analysis, it was determined that the type of drug was opium gum.

Customs Enforcement teams seized 4 kilo 814 grams of Afyon gum in the Turkish delight in the box with a total weight of 1 kilos 484 grams.

In the successful operation, judicial proceedings were initiated against the sender and receiver persons. The investigation continues in a multi-faceted manner before the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor.
