They became soldiers for a day, had fun at concerts, sent their kites to the sky… All of the exciting moments were experienced during the “Disability Week” events organized by IMM to raise social awareness on the rights of the disabled.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disabled Branch Directorate organized a series of events to draw attention to the emotional-intellectual potential and abilities of disabled people as part of the "Disabled Week". With the events organized, it was aimed to pave the way for the equal participation of people with disabilities in social life and to ensure that their problems in different fields such as education, health and safety are expressed.

THEY PAINTED THE SKY WITH COLORS

In the “Kite Festival” held in Şile Disabled Camp, individuals with special needs send their kites to the sky accompanied by their families. In the picnic program held in Kemerburgaz City Forest at the same time, all participants accompanied by trainers; dyeing, skipping rope, dodgeball, etc. They had a lot of fun playing games.

HAVE FUN AT MINI CONCERTS

With the participation of young and older student groups studying at ÖZGEM centers, mini-competitions (Chairs, throwing the ball to the target, hat fashion show designed by the families, guess what, etc.) were organized as part of the “Student Festivals”. Activities such as mini-games (chair-grabbing contest, guess what, etc.) and mini-concerts were held for parents.

JOY OF MILITARY

Under the auspices of the Turkish Armed Forces General Staff, the "One-Day Representative Military Service" program is held every year on May 10-16, World Disabled Persons Week, in order to provide a sense of military service to disabled individuals aged 20 and over who have not done their military service. This year's program was carried out with different units affiliated to the Land Forces Command on both sides.

The Anatolian Side organization was held at Tuzla Infantry School under the coordination of the KKK Infantry School Command (Tuzla), and the European Side organization was held at the 3rd Corps Command MEBS Regiment Hasdal Barracks. Participating in the program with 21 individuals with special needs, IMM Disabled Branch Directorate shared the joy of military service of 175 individuals with special needs.
