The 2023 of the Huawei Xmage Contest organized by Huawei has officially launched. Huawei's open platform for excellence in smartphone photography, the annual competition celebrates the inspiration and creativity captured in photos and videos captured with Huawei devices from around the world.
Since 2017, users from more than 170 countries and regions have entered the annual contest, and nearly 4 million submissions have been submitted to date. The Huawei Xmage Awards become a cultural reserve unto itself, containing a piece of human history from the perspectives of people around the world.
Capture and inspire: A new direction for Xmage rewards
This year's Xmage Awards are asking photographers everywhere, casual or professional, to seek inspiration in their photos. It gives all photography and photography enthusiasts a chance to be creative in their own right to pioneer their photography style and capture bursts of inspiration.
Like the vision behind its name, the Xmage Awards re-center inspiration and innovation in the art of photography. Named after Xmage, Huawei's proprietary Imaging Research and Development arm, the award represents Huawei's continued breakthroughs and commitments in mobile imaging, providing a unique, outstanding and enjoyable mobile photography experience for global consumers.
Launched in 2022, the Xmage brand focuses on the optical system, mechanical structure, imaging technology and image processing in photography. All four pillars of Xmage now lay the foundations for Huawei's latest smartphone camera technology, such as the Ultra Aperture Camera of the latest Huawei Mate 50 Pro and the Ultra Illumination Telephoto Camera of the Huawei P60 Pro, which participants can experience and test.
New category of night walkers to capture wonders in the dark
This year's competition highlights setting the tone and inspiring creativity with the following categories: Night Walk, Portrait, Art & Fashion, Outdoors, Hello Life, Storyboard, Action & Storytelling. The newest category, Night Walk, encourages users to photograph the hidden wonders of nightlife using Huawei's industry-leading camera features.
Attractive prizes, new jury and other competition information
This year, 3 General Award winners will be selected in the Turkish branch of the competition, and a total of 6 awards will be found out of 48 awards per category. Huawei P60 Pro 12+512 model smartphone will be awarded to the first place in the general classification, Huawei nova 10 Pro model will be awarded to the second, and Huawei nova 10 smartphone will be awarded to the third.
In the global arm of the competition, the outstanding applications will receive 3 Grand Prizes, 24 Category Winners, 27 Second Prizes and 5 Honorable Mentions. Winners will receive up to $10 in prize money.
A new cadre of jury members has also been announced to participate in the competition. This staff includes five well-known professional judges from different professional perspectives and backgrounds: Chen Xiaobo, Vice President of the China Photographers Association; Chinese fashion photographer Pei Tongtong; Portuguese landscape photographer Jose Ramos; Australian portrait photographer Jessica Hromas; and Li Changzhu, Vice President of the Consumer Strategy Marketing Division of the Huawei Consumer Business Group.
Xmage Awards Applications will close on August 15, 2023 at 23:59 (GMT+8). On September 4, 2023, local country winners will be announced. Global winners will be announced on September 30, 2023.
Users can visit the unified global application channel through Xmage Awards 2023 for their applications and submit their entries through the Huawei Community. Anyone over the age of 18 with a Huawei Community account can participate in the competition and send their photos and videos.
