Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank visited BTSO Kitchen Academy in Bursa and cooked milk halvah, one of the traditional flavors of the city, with his own hands. According to the statement made by the Ministry, BTSO Kitchen Academy, which was implemented by Bursa, Eskişehir, Bilecik Development Agency (BEBKA) affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Technology and Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), aimed to make entrepreneurs, young people and women have a profession in the food and beverage sector. 5 new training areas were created at the Mutfak Academy, including service, auditorium and barista training areas, and hot and pastry training kitchens.

Both education and experience

In the academy; Trainings are given in the fields of cookery, assistant cook, pastry, assistant pastry chef, barista, service attendant, pizzeria, doner kebab, baklava, entrepreneurial cook, entrepreneurial pastry chef, food and beverage management and pita maker. Trainees participating in the trainings at BTSO Kitchen Academy reinforce their training by working at the 1889 BURSA&DOUBLE F Restaurant, which was designed as a practice restaurant.

Industry and Technology Minister, AK Party Bursa 2nd Region 1st Rank Deputy Candidate Mustafa Varank, together with the famous chef Ömür Akkor, visited the Kitchen Academy. Bursa Governor Yakup Canpolat, AK Party Bursa Provincial President Davut Gürkan, Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry President İbrahim Burkay and BEBKA Secretary General Zeki Durak accompanied the visit. Offering Bursa Tahanlı, a popular taste of Bursa, to the youth at the sahur event in the historical Abdal Square, Varank moved to the production counter this time. He carried out the profession of his father, who was a restaurant tradesman.

Making evaluations about his visit, Minister Varank reminded that BTSO Kitchen Academy was renewed with the support of BEBKA and said, “When our friends come here, they will be able to take training that will take them one step ahead in the sector and train themselves.” said.

Varank stated that BTSO Kitchen Academy facilitates the employment of scholars with internship and job matching and said, “When we look at its culture and consider our historical riches, we can say that Turkey is the number one country in the world in terms of gastronomy. Bursa also has an important place among these tastes.” he said. Stating that they made cantik and milk halvah with Ömür Akkor, Varank said, “As a Bursa citizen, we will introduce these flavors to both Turkey and the world more from now on.” said.

Chief Ömür Akkor noted that Bursa is a historical center especially in terms of dairy farming and said, “We see milk fat accumulating on the edges of the jars found during the excavations made here 9 thousand years ago.” said. Reminding that Bursa was also the capital of the Ottoman Empire, Akkor said, “Therefore, there are dishes left over from the palace.” said. Expressing that he tasted cantik pita, which is the baked form of raw pastry, which is thought to have come from the Crimean Tatars, he said, “I visited the school and found it very impressive.
