Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu announced that 27 passengers traveled on the Ankara-Sivas high-speed train line between April 16 and May 70.

Karaismailoğlu stated that the citizens showed great interest in the Ankara-Sivas high-speed train line and noted that 20 thousand passengers traveled on 120 trips in 70 days.

“High-speed train line length reached 2 thousand 228 kilometers”

Stating that they are taking firm steps towards knitting the country with iron nets, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that they opened the Ankara-Sivas high-speed train line on April 26, and with the opening of this line, the length of the high-speed train line increased to 2 thousand 228 kilometers.

Noting that the Ankara-Sivas line was free between April 27 and May 31, Karaismailoğlu stated that the citizens showed great interest in this line.

Karaismailoğlu said, “Tickets sold out as soon as they opened for sale. We carried 27 thousand passengers on 16 flights between April 120 and May 70. We anticipate that approximately 27 passengers will travel between 31 April and 120 May.”

“1 million 400 thousand citizens had the opportunity to travel by high-speed train”

Underlining that with the project, approximately 1 million 400 thousand citizens have the opportunity to travel by high-speed train, Karaismailoğlu stated that there are even 8 stations, namely Elmadağ, Kırıkkale, Yerköy, Yozgat, Sorgun, Akdağmadeni, Yıldızeli and Sivas.

Minister Karaismailoğlu said:

“We reduced the distance between our line and Ankara-Sivas from 603 kilometers to 405 kilometers. We reduced the rail travel time from 12 hours to 2 hours, and the distance between Ankara and Yozgat to 1 hour. In fact, we built 66 tunnels with a length of 49 kilometers and 27 viaducts with a length of 49 kilometers. We built the longest tunnel of the project in Akdağmadeni with 5 thousand 125 meters and the longest railway viaduct with 2 thousand 220 meters in Çerikli-Kırıkkale. We built the railway viaduct with the highest pillar of Turkey in Elmadağ with a height of 89 meters. For the first time on the high-speed train line, we have laid a total of 1676 kilometers of rail using domestic rail. We realized the first ballastless road, namely concrete road application, in tunnels with 138 kilometers of concrete roads. As part of the project, we built a local and national ice prevention and defrosting facility in Sivas.”
