Individuals with special needs met at the 'We Are Flying the Barriers Festival' organized by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality on the occasion of the 10-16 May Disabled Week.
Various activities were carried out with the playgrounds and stages set up at the festival held with the slogan 'We Are Flying the Barriers' at Özgecan Aslan Peace Square. Participating in the festival with their families, individuals with special needs sent their kites to the sky in a beautiful spring weather.
Individuals with special needs who participate in the zumba show on the stage set up by the Metropolitan Municipality Health Affairs Department and dance with fairy tale characters at the mini disco event; He also played basketball, volleyball, table tennis, curling and tug-of-war. The children, who painted their faces in the face painting event, had fun by flying the kites distributed in the field. While colorful kites were flying in the sky, the happiness of special children also revealed colorful images.

Stating that they will implement important activities within the scope of the 10-16 May Disability Week, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Health Affairs Department Disabled Branch Manager Abdullah Gerboğa said, “Our event was very good. Before the kite festival, the children participated in zumba, mini disco, basketball, volleyball, curling, table tennis, tug-of-war, face painting and making shapes with sausage balloons. We also had treats such as popcorn, cotton candy, sandwiches and lemonade. Then we flew our kites. The children had a lot of fun, our event went very well. When their families were with them, they were very happy.”

Veli Erciyas, 28, stated that he had fun all day at the event and said, “We flew kites, did Zumba, played basketball, played football and held competitions. Thank you very much to our president. He always takes care of us.”
14-year-old Dilara Hair said, “We had a lot of fun. We played basketball, did zumba and ate corn. Thank you very much Vahap Seçer. I love all of them so much”, while sharing the activity he enjoyed the most, “I liked the zumba activity the most. I'm also someone who likes to dance. I had a lot of fun,” she said.
Mehmet Özkartal, 26, stated that he participated in all the activities of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality and had a lot of fun at this event, adding, “I flew a kite. We played table tennis. I like table tennis the most. While saying "Thanks to Vahap President", Açelya Yarar said, "We have a kite festival. We are fine, we are happy. We fly kites, play basketball, do everything. We love our president too," he said.
