Ankara Provincial Health Directorate, Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education and Turkish National Allergy and Clinical Immunology Association signed the project protocol “Aware of Allergy”.

Aiming to raise awareness about allergic diseases in schools, Ankara Provincial Health Directorate, Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education and Turkish National Allergy and Clinical Immunology Association implemented the “Aware of Allergy” project. With this project, it is aimed to increase the awareness and knowledge level of teachers in pre-school education institutions and primary schools in Gölbaşı district of Ankara, which was selected as a pilot province, on allergic diseases such as asthma, food allergy, and anaphylaxis, together with these trainings. After the training given within the scope of the project, the teachers were given certificates that they had received allergy training.

The principals and teachers of 16 schools attended the first training.

The training held in Gölbaşı within the scope of the “Aware of Allergy” project signed between AİD, Ankara Provincial Health Directorate and Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education; Gölbaşı District Governor Erol Rüstemoğlu, Provincial Health Director Exp. Dr. Ali Niyazi Kurtcebe, Provincial Director of National Education Harun Fatsa, AİD Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. Dilşad Mungan, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Emine Dibek Mısırlıoğlu and Foreign Relations Officer Prof. Dr. Özge Uysal Soyer, together with the principals and teachers of 16 schools in Gölbaşı.

“We will create allergy awareness in every school”

Speaking on the subject, Dilşad Mungan, Chairman of the Board of the National Allergy and Clinical Immunology Association of Turkey, said that in this journey they set out to explain allergy to all segments from A to Z, certified allergy trainings at schools in order to reach wider audiences and to strengthen awareness while making life with allergy more comfortable. He said that they have implemented the project.

Expressing that the teachers who will be entitled to receive a certificate by receiving training on this subject will also be volunteer ambassadors who will raise allergy awareness in every school where they will work in their future lives, Murgan said, "No matter what, food allergy does not forgive." With this project, it will be much more possible to raise the awareness that not every food served may be healthy and may harm the health of your friend. Teachers will be informed about the approach to a child with food allergy, and they will receive training on what they can do if they eat allergic food at school and then experience the clinical picture we call allergic shock, which leads to serious processes such as redness and swelling of the body and even inability to breathe. In this way, parents will be much more comfortable about the health of their children," he said.
