Report Published on Train Accident, Which Killed 57 People in Greece

In the report prepared on the train accident that occurred on February 28 in the Tembi region of Larisa, Greece, it was stated that the modernization of the railways in the country was necessary.

The expert committee formed by the Ministry of Transport published a report on the train accident that resulted in the death of 57 people.

While emphasizing the need to modernize the railways in the country, it was stated that the accident occurred due to a combination of factors such as human error, lack of technological equipment and administrative problems.

The 228-page report also noted that the Greek Railways Organization (OSE), the Railway Regulatory Authority and the 59-year-old Larissa station chief, who was on trial, were responsible.

Pointing out that there are some chronic problems on the railways, the report also underlined the need for structural changes in the training of railway workers.

In the Tembi region, north of the city of Larisa, on February 28, the collision of a passenger train and a freight train caused 57 people to die in the accident that derailed some wagons and burned the front wagons.
