Applications continue for NEU's Documentary Photography Contest

Applications for the “Documentary Photo Contest” organized by the Near East University Faculty of Communication Journalism Department for high school and university students continue. The competition, which aims to pave the way for students to express their view of the world with the language of photography, consists of two categories, high school and university.

The deadline for applications to the contest organized with the themes of "Cultural Heritage and History", "Environment and Human", "Freedom, Democracy and Human Rights", "Human, Animal and Space" (Portrait), "Black and White" is April 30, 2023.

Twenty-five finalist photographs will be exhibited in university and high school branches.

The jury of the competition, whose winners will be announced at the award ceremony to be held on May 17, 2023, is comprised of academician and photographer Aykan Özener, documentary producer and press photographer Coşkun Aral, documentary photographer and war photojournalist Emin Özmen, and academics and photographers Gazi Yüksel and Mert Yusuf Özlük. At the end of the competition, 25 photographs from each category will be exhibited. On the other hand, photographs deemed worthy of exhibition will also be published on the website of the Near East University Faculty of Communication.

In addition, the finalists of the competition will be entitled to participate in the photography workshop to be organized by Coşkun Aral on 16 May.

Applications will be accepted digitally until April 30.

Candidates who want to participate in the Documentary Photo Contest organized by the Journalism Department of the Faculty of Communication of Near East University should send their applications to the e-mail address Belge.fotograf@neu.edu.tr until the end of the working hours on April 30, 2023 at the latest.

The university category of the competition, in which each participant can participate with a maximum of 5 photographs; It will be open to associate, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students. University students are required to present their student certificate at the time of application. The high school category is open to all high school students between the ages of 15-18.
