“Turkey-Azerbaijan Preferential Trade Agreement” was signed between Minister of Trade Mehmet Muş and Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Cabbarov. After visiting the Gazi Museum, Ministers Muş and Cabbarov held a bilateral meeting at the museum. At the ceremony held later, Muş and Cabbarov signed the "Turkey-Azerbaijan Preferential Trade Agreement" protocol.

In his speech after the signing of the protocol, Muş said that the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan have a meaning beyond friendship.

Emphasizing that their brotherhood shows itself on all fronts, Muş said, “We are working and fighting together towards common goals both in the international arena and in bilateral relations. We have been working for a long time to prepare the ground suitable for our political relations and brotherhood in our economic relations. Today, we are happy to have taken another step towards building this ground.” said.

Muş expressed that he was pleased to sign the protocol for expanding the scope of “Turkey-Azerbaijan Preferential Trade Agreement” with Cabbarov's visit and wished that the protocol would be beneficial for their countries and business worlds.

Explaining that they will take a new step forward in their economic relations with the Protocol and provide an additional trade area to the business world, Muş said, “With the Protocol, we will provide mutual market opening in some agricultural and industrial products, in addition to the products already included in the Preferential Trade Agreement. Thus, we will have increased the trade volume between the two countries in the products covered by the Preferential Trade Agreement to 150 million dollars. We believe that the additional trade volume to be created by the protocol will be an important step towards achieving the 15 billion dollars trade volume target set by our presidents.” he said.

Noting that Samsun is among the cities that became a milestone in many areas during the National Struggle and the construction of the national economy, Muş said:

“We also find it very valuable that this agreement, which brought a new milestone in our trade, was signed in Samsun. I think that our province will become a base in our trade with Azerbaijan with its production and logistics capabilities and will become an investment center for our Azerbaijani brothers in our country. Today, we will also meet with my esteemed colleague Mr. Cabbarov and our business people from Samsun to discuss these opportunities. I am also pleased to have lit this torch with Azerbaijan on this road that will make Samsun one of the leading cities of international trade.”

Cabbarov also said that it was a good day for the relations of the two brotherly states.

Stating that the presidents of the two countries attended the opening of TEKNOFEST in Istanbul together, Cabbarov said, “There is trade cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan in all fields. Cooperation is made in the fields of energy, agriculture and industrial zones. We intend for mutual benefit from the economic opportunities in Samsun and the Black Sea Region. I would like to express once again that there will be cooperation in finding new economic opportunities with the participation of Azerbaijan's private and other state companies, especially SOCAR.” he said.

Pointing out that the level of trade between the two countries has increased in the last 2 years, Cabbarov said, “The number of projects we do together is increasing. This is another step towards achieving the $15 billion trade target set by our Presidents.” said.

Cabbarov also congratulated Samsunspor, who became champion of Spor Toto 1st League and qualified to compete in Super League next year.
