Üsküdar University NPİSTANBUL Hospital Neurology Specialist Prof. Dr. Sultan Tarlacı made evaluations about Parkinson's disease. Noting that Parkinson's disease is a disease of advanced age, Neurology Specialist Prof. Dr. Sultan Tarlacı stated that the disease usually reveals its own symptoms over the age of 65. Stating that the initial form of Parkinson's, which occurs more frequently in men than in women, is tremor in one hand, Prof. Dr. Sultan Tarlacı said that the other symptoms are slowing down in movements, walking with small steps, bending forward as time passes, and the disappearance of the arm swinging movement called asocial movement. Tarlacı emphasized that falls in advanced ages should also be taken into consideration and a neurologist should be consulted.

Noting that Parkinson's disease is a disease of advanced age, Prof. Dr. Sultan Tarlacı said, “It usually reveals its own symptoms over the age of 65. It occurs relatively more frequently in men than in women, and the onset is usually with a tremor in one hand. We call tremor medically as tremor. It manifests itself as a tremor in one hand, usually in the thumb. When this tremor is seen even from the outside, the disease can be diagnosed.” said.

Noting that the patient's movements slowed down about 1-2 years after it started with trembling, Prof. Dr. Sultan Tarlacı said, “Heaviness when sitting and standing, shortening of steps while walking, not swinging the arms, in other words, manifests itself with signs of lack of movement. In later stages, it can progress in a way that brings daily life to the level of addiction.” used the phrase.

Stating that the biggest cause of Parkinson's disease is age, Prof. Dr. Sultan Tarlacı said, “Parkinson is a disease that occurs with age. It is a disease of old age because it can be seen in the society at 65 percent over the age of 5. At the age of 75, almost 20 percent of the population can develop Parkinson's disease. It is a disease of aging, but not a disease that occurs in all aging. It is a movement deficiency disease that occurs with certain factors in some people, especially in the areas that provide movement balance and adjustments in the movement areas of the brain. It is a disease caused by the rapid aging of the motor areas of the brain.” he spoke

Referring to the factors that cause Parkinson's disease, Prof. Dr. Sultan Tarlacı said, “Male gender is an important factor. You're more likely to have Parkinson's if you're male. If you live in rural and rural areas, drink well water, smoke, and have been exposed to pesticides, you are more likely to develop Parkinson's than those who are not exposed to these factors. he said.

Underlining that Parkinson's is a manageable disease rather than a treatable disease, Prof. Dr. Sultan Tarlacı said, “Prural pacemaker or drug therapy is used in suitable patients. But Parkinson's is actually managed, not treated. Medicines have certain effects and side effects depending on the patient's condition. The effects are sometimes 4-6 hours. The patient or his/her relatives should monitor themselves and record the times of ineffectiveness. Regular exercise cycling or swimming should be done. If the bicycle cannot be used with wheels, it may be difficult, pedaling should be done for half an hour and 45 minutes with a bicycle without wheels. Sleep should be regular and of good quality. Poor sleep significantly increases the patient's complaints the next day.
