Tumor Removed by Robotic Method, Kidney Saved

Private Health Hospital Robotic Surgery Director Prof. Dr. Burak Turna said that with the Robotic Partial Nephrectomy operation, which can be performed in only a few centers in the world, they restored the overweight Nuray Akbaş to health.

As a result of the examinations, a tumor was detected in his left kidney, and he regained his health after the Robotic Partial Nephrectomy operation, which was performed at the Izmirli Nuray Akbaş (49) Private Health Hospital, which requires expertise. Stating that Nuray Akbaş had previously undergone gallbladder and gastric bypass operations, Robotic Surgery Director Prof. Dr. Burak Turna said that they completed the operation, which carries a risk due to the patient's being overweight, with the robotic method, by saving the kidney.

Stating that they are among the few centers that can perform this operation in the world and in our country, Prof. Dr. Burak Turna also stated that the patient was discharged in a short time after the operation.

prof. Dr. Burak Turna said, “As a result of the examinations we made to Ms. Nuray, we detected a tumor in her left kidney. We cleaned the tumor area with robotic method in the kidney operation, which is risky due to being overweight. It was an operation that required finesse and expertise due to excessive fat tissue. Thanks to the Robotic Partial Nephrectomy operation, which took about 3 hours, we did not need to remove the kidney. The kidney was cleared of the tumor and recovered. Our patient was discharged in a short period of three days. I wish him good health in his next life," he said.

ROBOTIC SURGERY PROVIDES ADVANTAGE

Giving information about the robotic surgery technique, Prof. Dr. Burak Turna said: “With this method, patients are provided with the opportunity to feel less pain after surgery and return to normal life earlier. Moreover, since the scar is less compared to open surgery, it also offers an aesthetic advantage. Since this method causes less trauma to the body, both blood loss is less and the recovery time is shortened. The risk of infection in the patient is reduced. With robotic surgery, we provide our patients with the opportunity to operate away from the disadvantages of open surgery. We continue our work for public health with a team with more than a thousand cases experience in this matter.
