A Culture of Excellence Brings Competitive Advantage

The quality management approach adopted by institutions plays a decisive role in sustainable and global competition. As globalization removes borders, it is important for companies to position the culture of excellence as an indispensable element of quality management in order to adapt to global competition. At this point, Yılmaz Bayraktar, President of the Quality Association of Turkey (KalDer), which works to contribute to raising the competitiveness and welfare level of our country by transforming the culture of excellence into a lifestyle, pointed out that the concept of excellence for institutions constitutes the necessary basis for an organization to achieve success.

The Turkish Quality Association (KalDer), which has been operating for 32 years in order to gain effectiveness and spread the modern quality philosophy in our country, works to contribute to the increase of the competitive power and welfare level of our country by transforming the culture of excellence into a lifestyle. Stating that the essence of competition is excellence, and the essence of excellence is quality, KalDer Chairman of the Board Yılmaz Bayraktar emphasized that the way to survive in global competition is to reach the essence of excellence.

Yılmaz Bayraktar pointed out that the understanding of excellence contributes to the management in terms of how organizations will change and develop by using quality management; “Achieving successful results by managing all stakeholders, resources, processes and products in a balanced way leads us to quality. Excellence represents the whole of the rings that make up this entire value chain. The main issue here is to create a culture with the right quality management and to achieve sustainable success with this culture. At this point, as the national business partner of the European Quality Management Foundation, we adopt the EFQM model, which is the National Quality Management Approach, and aim to make it widespread.”

Shedding light on the road to sustainable performance

Yılmaz Bayraktar stated that getting ahead in the competition depends on companies' embracing change, increasing performance and keeping up with the future; “Excellence breeds quality, quality culture. At this point, what will bring us to this culture is none other than the EFQM model. Because this model acts as a culture creator that instills common beliefs and common goals in companies, enabling them to stick to their vision and maintain their determination. The EFQM model, which sheds light on the organizational culture in order to create sustainable value, improve performance and instill stakeholder satisfaction; It draws a path based on agile, non-prescriptive and strong leadership. It offers flexibility that can be applied to respond to rapidly changing conditions, helping businesses continue their journey of excellence without disruption. It guides companies to optimize their goals in achieving excellence by predicting future trends, mapping patterns, and showing progress. The EFQM model, which updates itself day by day, sheds light on the path to sustainable performance with its flexibility that can be adapted to all businesses, regardless of size and sector, and offers the key to competition.”

Guiding institutions on the path to excellence

Bayraktar stated that the adoption of a culture of excellence is a key role for competition; “Although it may seem easy on paper, it is a process that takes time and effort for the issues we touched on to come to life and for institutions to turn these issues into a culture. As KalDer, we step in at this stage and guide institutions on the path of a culture of excellence. We are working to establish quality awareness in our country, to encourage quality work, to increase our competitiveness in the foreign market, and to provide technical assistance and coordination to the industry and service sector in this regard.
