8 Earthquake Victims Are Sheltered in the Removal Center in Malatya

In Malatya, the Removal Center affiliated to the Directorate of Migration Management under our Ministry will be a temporary shelter for 10 thousand earthquake victims.

After the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, the Removal Center, which was established on an area of 433 decares in Yeşilyurt district, was allocated for the use of the disaster victims.

After the deportation or transfer to different provinces of irregular migrants, most of whom are from Afghanistan, living in the center, the existing containers were taken into maintenance.

Due to the fact that the earthquake victims were not ready in the first days, the victims were placed in containers after the maintenance of the center, where they were hosted in the administrative buildings.

It is planned to increase the number of containers to 2 in the area where the works are ongoing, and to place disaster victims in 1400 of them. Other containers will be used for the needs of public institutions.

It is aimed that 8 thousand people will stay in the container city, where 873 earthquake victims have settled so far.

In the area where 6 meals a day for 10 thousand people are served in 3 tents, there are activity areas for private individuals and children, a school, kindergarten, course centers, a library, a prayer room and a health area.
