After the Adıyaman Beşpınar Education Campus visit, answering the questions of the press members about the exam preparation process of the students in the earthquake zone, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that they are with the students at over a thousand LGS and YKS preparation support points.
In his statement, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that after the earthquake on 6 February, the Ministry made every effort to put education into practice as quickly as possible.
“We have gradually normalized education in 10 provinces. First in Kilis, Şanlıurfa and Diyarbakır on March 1, then in Osmaniye, Gaziantep and Adana on March 13, and then in the remaining four provinces on March 27, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, Malatya and In Hatay, we have started education and training in certain districts where the flow of life is normal and the buildings are solid. Thus, as of March 27, we have actually continued the second semester education in 81 provinces in its normal course.”
Reminding that they left the decision in which districts to start education in the future, together with the coordinating Ministers, to the Governors who closely follow the process in the field, Özer said, “As the Ministry of National Education, we do not wait for these decisions, especially with tents, containers, prefabricated schools, We continue to provide all kinds of support in the buildings.” he said.
Noting that LGS and YKS preparation courses have been given at more than a thousand support and training points since the first day, Özer stated that he visited the education campus in Adıyaman Beşpınar today. Özer said, “There are preparatory courses about LGS, there are preparatory courses about YKS, there is also the opportunity to organize cultural events. Besides, there are opportunities for the accommodation of teachers.” said.
Stating that they built the campus he visited together with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Özer said that he thanked the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the deputies and everyone who contributed:
“There is a very serious cooperation in the field of education. I am very happy to see this in this process. Collaborations with our Ministry of National Defense in Mehmetçik schools, with our Ministry of Interior and AFAD Presidency in the context of continuing education in tent and container schools, on the other hand, the classes where LGS and YKS preparatory courses are given on board with our Ministry of Energy in Iskenderun. In other words, we live in a period where all kinds of cooperation are possible when there is education.”
Explaining that the Ministry of National Education has made an arrangement that allows students in Adıyaman, Malatya, Hatay and Kahramanmaraş to participate in LGS in their own provinces, those who want to participate in other provinces, and that the exam will not be held in these four provinces before, the OSYM Presidency revised the decision and decided to take the exam in four provinces. Reminding that he announced that he will hold an exam, Özer said, “These are very important steps. Because if we want to normalize life in the region, we must first normalize the processes related to education and central exams very quickly. After that, the state is already on the field with all its means. Our President sent all Ministers to the field. Everyone works here day and night. Our deputies are here, our mayors are here.
