The renovation process of InterContinental Istanbul, which was designed in the 1960s and is considered one of the most important buildings in the history of Turkish architecture and has been serving since 1995, will be completed in 2025.

The renovation process of InterContinental Istanbul, which was designed in the 1960s and is considered one of the most important buildings in the history of Turkish architecture and has been serving since 1995, will be completed in 2025. The first phase of the renovation process, which started on the lobby floor and exterior as of January, was completed in April; The entire hotel, which has 390 rooms, will be completed gradually in 3 years. After the process, the number of suites in the hotel increased from 52 to 104; room sizes will also increase.

IF Design Awards 2022 winner Aslı Arıkan Dayıoğlu, the architect who carried out the renovation process of InterContinental Istanbul, said in a statement: The Bosphorus, which has been protected like a jewel for centuries, has determined the starting point of the design process of this project. This phenomenon is gently reflected in the dynamism of the walls in an abstract form, from the lobby design to the room design. It has been tried to ensure that the guests experience the reflections of these Bosphorus waves in abstract form from the first moment they enter the hotel. At the entrance, the first eye-catching form that will impress the guests is the undulating mirrored ceiling, inspired by the silhouette of the Bosphorus, which wraps the reception counters. The deep blue waters of the Bosphorus take on different blue tones every day; The color harmony created by the reflections of the warm colored sky in Istanbul's sunsets can be felt in the traditional works of art used in the room. In the rooms, fabrics produced by special artists, each of which is handcrafted, were used for this project.”
