İzmir Metropolitan Municipality processes the healthy beef that it buys from the local producer in Ödemiş and presents it to the cuisine of İzmir residents in the People's Butcher aisles. The Metropolitan, which sold 5 million liras of meat in 55 months with the People's Butcher, covered 400 grams of each kilogram of meat bought by the citizens, contributing approximately 9 million liras to the citizens' pockets.

Processed and carcass meat products prepared in Ödemiş Meat Integrated Facility, where İzTarı A.Ş., a subsidiary of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, has renewed and included the further processing facility, meet with the people of İzmir in People's Butcher aisles.
We have reached a meat processing capacity of 10 tons
IzTarm A.S. General Manager Murat Onkardeşler said, “We had a major revision in Ödemiş Meat Integrated Plant, which was established in 2014, in 2020. We have set up a further processing facility inside the facility. With the addition of the further processing facility, we have reached a total meat processing capacity of 10 tons in two shifts per day. Here, we have become producing many advanced meat products such as shredding facility, sausage, pastrami, doner kebab, sausage, meatballs, roasting.”
Two vet checks
Murat Onkardeşler stated that despite the red meat that carries the risk of epidemics recently, certain animals were purchased from the local producer and said, “After the People's Grocery Store was handed over to us, we aimed to turn the investment here into the profit of the consumer. We wanted to make a contribution to our citizens against the high meat prices with the People's Butcher section in the People's Grocery. We cut the animals we buy from the producers of Ödemiş, Kiraz, Tire and Bayındır in this facility on a daily basis. We only work with the local manufacturer. Both the veterinarian of the Ministry of Agriculture and our own veterinarian are available in our facility. After examining the entire history and record of the animal, the slaughter is done. Fortunately, we did not encounter any foot-and-mouth disease in our region. After further processing, we send it to our logistics center in Menemen. From there, we send them to the People's Butcher aisles in People's Grocery Stores, which number 9 today.”
“9 million contribution to the pocket of the citizen”
Onkardeşler said, “With People's Butcher, we sold 29 million liras of meat in the last two months of last year, 26 million liras in the first three months of this month, and 55 million liras in total. Our prices are 40% cheaper than the quality of the meat. In other words, the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality provides support by meeting 400 grams of each kilo of ground beef bought by our citizens. In this way, we made a contribution of approximately 9 million liras to the pockets of our citizens.”
“People's Grocery buses are in service soon”
Onkardeşler said, “Our hearts are in favor of delivering cheap and healthy meat to everyone. But we are not in competition with the butchers either. We are trying to be with our citizens in today's conditions. Our price policy will continue. Our numbers will continue to increase. As of May, we will start serving in Torbalı Ayrancılar and Buca Butchers Square. We will provide mobile service in the back neighborhoods by putting our People's Grocery buses into service in a short time.”
