'One Heart with Photography' International Photography Exhibition Opened

Gazikultur A.Ş, Gaziantep Governorship, Gaziantep University, 9 Eylül University and GAFSAD in partnership with the “One Heart with Photography” International Photography Exhibition opened at the Turkish Archeology and Cultural Heritage Institute.

One of the affiliates of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, Gazikultur A.Ş., in partnership with Gaziantep Governorship, Gaziantep University 9 Eylül University and GAFSAD, the International Photography Exhibition “One Heart with Photography” was opened at the Turkish Archeology and Cultural Heritage Institute.

The proceeds from the sale of the works in the exhibition will be donated to the earthquake victims as the “Solidarity of the Century” during the healing process of the 6 February earthquakes, the disaster of the century.

In the exhibition consisting of the works of 16 photographers from 63 countries; The lower limit for the sale of meaningful photo frames that have received awards and participated in the exhibition has been determined as one thousand liras. The exhibition will be open to visitors until May 6 for all citizens who want to support earthquake victims.

In his speech, Deputy Governor of Gaziantep Salih Altınok stated that they shared the healing power of art and said, “I would like to thank the participants for not leaving us alone in these difficult days and for being with us and sharing the healing power of art with us. As far as I can see, it is a multi-stakeholder and multi-participant exhibition. The works of over 16 artists from 60 countries are on display.” he said.

City Council President Samet Bayrak thanked all the guests who participated in the exhibition.

Gazikultur General Manager Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim Yakar, mentioning that the exhibition is based on volunteerism, said, “We experienced the disaster of the century. Our aim was both an exhibition and an effort to give the income from this exhibition to the earthquake victims in order to make a contribution to the people who were damaged in the earthquake within two weeks. We would like to thank all our stakeholders who did not leave us alone in this sense. Our aim here is to help earthquake-affected children and people with the income here.” said.

GAFSAD President Yakup Yener stated in his opening speech that a difficult process has been overcome and said, “When we thought about what we can do after this process, we thought that we, as GAFSAD, could do something with photography. Thanks to other institutions, our municipality gave support. We created an exhibition of 16 photographers from 63 countries. I hope you will support it by taking it," he said.

Curator Assoc. Dr. A. Beyhan Özdemir thanked everyone who supported the exhibition and said, "We organized a charity exhibition consisting of photographs of academics and artists from different countries of the world and different cities of our country, each of whom we can call expert artists in their own fields."
