Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin took action to prevent the shopkeepers in Zincirli Bedesten, which was closed due to the damage she suffered in the earthquake. Accordingly, 72 tradesmen in the historical building will temporarily continue their commercial life in the parking lot next to the 25 December Heroism Panorama and Museum.

Zincirli Bedesten, whose real name is Hüseyin Pasha Bedesten, suffered great damage after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş. The Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, Fatma Şahin, extended a hand of support to the tradesmen who emptied the shops due to the strengthening of the building, which is a first-degree monumental work by the Regional Directorate of Foundations.

In this context, President Fatma Şahin and Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül met with the shopkeepers of Zincirli Bedesten and listened to their suggestions. President Fatma Şahin, who learned that the shopkeepers of Zincirli Bedesten will stay away from their shops for a minimum of 1 year at the meeting, which was also attended by the officials from the Regional Directorate of Foundations, heralded that they will open the parking lot next to the Heroism Panorama and Museum on December 25th so that the tradesmen can continue their commercial life.

Expressing that the new commercial area to be built in the parking lot next to the museum will be named Zincirli Bedesten Square, Mayor Fatma Şahin stated that the Metropolitan Municipality will again supply the stands to be established during her meeting with the shopkeepers of the covered bazaar.

On the other hand, saying “Your right is our right” to the shopkeepers, Şahin also assured that the right holders in Zincirli Bedesten will return to their workplaces immediately after the restoration process without being victimized.
