Kaspersky has published the results of the research survey “Digital Superstitions” about people's attitudes towards modern technologies and devices. According to the research, 39 percent of the participants in our country name their electronic devices. The research reveals that the most nicknamed devices are smartphones.

Some digital devices that users can use for many years can play an important role in daily life. While it's not surprising that people are emotionally attached to these devices, for some it can be comparable to their emotional attachment to friends or pets.

Many people treat electronic appliances as living beings that they can talk to or persuade to start working again if the appliance fails to work. For example, in Turkey, 84 percent of the participants use their smart phones, 44 percent with their televisions, 40 percent with their laptops, 15 percent with electric kettles and coffee machines, 16 percent with their smart speakers and 21 percent with their robot vacuum cleaners. speaking. According to a Kaspersky survey, 73 percent of all respondents speak to the device, other than voice commands, to ask it to work or to curse the device if it freezes. Additionally, 43 percent of users in Turkey feel empathy for their damaged, dropped or broken devices.

“As people become more connected to their digital devices, they tend to treat their electronic devices as if they were friends or pets. Therefore, they develop a sense of trust and empathy towards their devices. However, just as it should be in all our interpersonal relationships, it is important to strike a balance and maintain some objectivity and boundaries. Otherwise, there is always the risk of encountering cybercriminals who can use this trust for their own purposes. Over-reliance on digital devices and robotic systems can lead users to share personal information, reducing their skepticism and caution, and ultimately becoming victims of cybercriminals.” said.
