Get ready because Welcome to Eden returns on Netflix with its highly anticipated second season on Friday, April 21. If you remember, the first season ends with a shocking ending when the main character Zoa is faced with a difficult decision. What will Zoa decide to do? How will things develop for Africa, Charly, Ibon and Eloy in Welcome to Eden season 2? What about other supporting characters? We don't know yet, but we can't wait to see how each character's story unfolds in season two.
Since the first season has been out for almost a year, you may have forgotten some of the things that happened in the series. Don't worry! We've shared the Welcome to Eden season 1 info below. That way, you won't be confused about what's going on when you start the new season.
Welcome to Heaven season 1 synopsis
Here are the nine most important things to remember before watching Welcome to Eden season 2.
Zoa and the chosen others are invited to a party on a mysterious island.
Zoa and four others (Africa, Charly, Ibon and Aldo) are invited to a private party on a secret island thrown by a new beverage brand. Instructed not to bring a plus one, Zoa breaks the rules and brings her best friend Judith to the party. Upon arrival at the island, each person going to the party is given a bracelet, but only the chosen ones light up. At the party, Zoa, Africa, Charly, Ibon and Aldo drink their special drink (Blue Eden), while Judith does not because her bracelet is not burned.
Blue Eden, Zoa, Africa, Charly, Ibon and Aldo wake up on the island after a crazy night of partying and drinking and have no memory of what happened the night before. Zoa also realizes that Judith is missing. She then flies by a drone and takes them to an inhabited settlement on the island. A group of people watch them as they approach. Then a woman named Astrid comes forward and invites them to the island called "Eden".
What will happen to Judith?
The morning after the party, Judith is abducted by Orson, a member of the island settlement. As Judith sees Ulsis strangling another member of the settlement at the party, Orson and Brenda decide to kill her. They take Judith to the edge of the cliff, cover her arm in blue paint, shoot her in the head, and then throw her off the cliff.
Welcome to Heaven who dies in season 1?
Here is the list of those who died in the first season:
- Judith – Brenda shoots her in the head with a nail gun and then throws her off a cliff.
- Fran - It's unclear how she died, but it looks like Brenda did the dirty work.
- Aldo – Brenda shoots him in the head with a nail gun.
- David – An Eden Foundation member shoots him in the head with a gun.
- Claudia – Brenda shoots her in the head with a nail gun.
- Ulises – Ibon drowns him.
A mysterious person attacks Erick.
A masked assailant wearing clothes with the "Lilith" symbol breaks into Astrid and Erick's apartment with Ulises' key card. They fight Astrid and Erick before stabbing Erick in the stomach and fleeing. The attacker's identity was not disclosed in the first season, but the list of suspects includes the teacher's pets, Saul and Brenda, or any member of the community who really is against Astrid and Erick.
A young boy named Isaac lives in Eden
The day after the party, Zoa spots a young boy outside her module. He tries to follow her but disappears. Zoa, who is said to have no children living on the island, believes she is dreaming of him. However, we later learn that the boy's name is Isaac and that he is real. She also seems to have healing abilities as she somehow heals Erick with her hands after being attacked. However, exactly who Isaac was in the first season and why he was on the island was never revealed. All we know is that he has healing powers and wants to go to "true" Heaven. Could he be Astrid and Erick's son? And what is "true" Heaven?
What is the Eden Foundation?
We may never find out what the Eden Foundation really was in the first season, but we do know that the founders were Astrid and Erick. According to Astrid and Erick, they created the community to protect themselves and a select group of people from the outside world because they believe that climate change will soon wipe out humanity. Once someone becomes a member of the Eden Foundation, they are not allowed to leave. If anyone tries to escape, they will be executed.
There is a hierarchy system where members are divided into three levels. The higher the level, the more access a member has. Astrid, Erick, Mayka, Brenda, Orson, Ulises and Saúl are third level members.
But there seems to be a deeper and more sinister reason why Astrid and Erick decided to start the Eden Foundation. I hope we find the real reason in Welcome to Eden season 2.
Will Zoa and Charly be able to escape from Eden?
Unknown. As Charly arrives on the boat to leave Eden, we do not see that the boat he is on has actually taken off. So an Eden Foundation member could have caught him. On the other hand, Zoa is very close to reaching the boat, but just then she sees her younger sister Gabi coming to the island and stops moving. Zoa is now torn between leaving the island and staying for her sister. We'll find out what he chose to do in season two.
Africa sends a signal into space
While Zoa and Charly enact their escape plan, Afrika sneaks into Astrid and Erick's apartment and finds a secret room filled with several computers. Pressing a button on one of the computers accidentally activates a satellite in Isaac's module and sends a signal into space. While he was trying to get out of the secret room by getting on the elevator, the doors were closed before he could get in. Now, he's trapped inside the room.
Private detective arrives in Eden
PI Brisa finally arrives at the secret island in the season finale, after collecting all the information she can about the whereabouts of Ibon and the other party goers. However, it is not yet near the Eden Foundation campus. I wonder what's next for Brisa in Welcome to Eden season 2? Will he be able to find and save Zoa and the others?
