Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Selected as 'Food Hero'

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality was selected as a 'Food Hero' with the project of "Protect Food, Protect Your Table", initiated in cooperation with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, with the project to produce food for street animals by recycling excess foodstuffs.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality was selected as a Food Hero as a result of the Protect Your Food, Protect Your Table campaign launched in cooperation with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey.

The project that brought the title of Food Hero to ABB was the food production facility it established in the Sincan Temporary Animal Care and Rehabilitation Center. At the facility, surplus food is converted into dry food for stray animals.

ASLAN: “WE CARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO WASTE OF FOOD”

All institutions and organizations that support the 'Save Food, Protect Your Table' campaign came together at the meeting held via video conference. Seyfettin Aslan, Head of ABB Health Affairs Department, attended the meeting.

Seyfettin Aslan stated that they were selected as a Food Hero for their work by supporting the 'Save Food, Protect Your Table' campaign and made the following statements:

“As Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we attach great importance to food waste. We did a lot of activities on this subject. We established a facility with a capacity of 3 tons per day. At the moment, we produce food for street animals from leftovers, which are called 1 ton per day. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) AND the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey chose us as the 'Food Hero' within the framework of the 'Protect Food and Protect Your Table' program.”
