Ankara Metropolitan Municipality hosted the 'Turkey Arm Wrestling Championship and European Championship National Team Selections' organized by the Turkish Bodybuilding, Fitness and Arm Wrestling Federation. While the athletes who shed sweat in the Atatürk Indoor Sports Hall struggled fiercely, medals were given to the winners.
Continuing to support sports and athletes in the capital city, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to support all branches of sports.
Youth and Sports Services Department hosted the “Turkish Arm Wrestling Championship and European Championship National Team Selections” organized by the Turkish Bodybuilding, Fitness and Arm Wrestling Federation.
ATHLETES PARTICIPATED FROM ALL AROUND TURKEY
Athletes from all over Turkey participated in the competition held at Atatürk Sports Hall. Athletes; Medals were given to the winners of the competition, in which they fought hard to be included in the national team squad of the European Championship to be held in Moldova.
Stating that they will continue to support sports and athletes as Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, Youth and Sports Services Department Youth Services Branch Manager Erdal Demir said, “We are happy to host the Turkish Arm Wrestling Championship and National Team selection competitions of the Turkish Bodybuilding, Fitness and Arm Wrestling Federation. . As Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we wish success to the athletes and technical committee participating in the competitions.”

Niyazi Kurt, President of the Turkish Bodybuilding, Fitness and Wrist Federation, thanked the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality for its support to the tournament and said, “This year, we are holding the Turkish Arm Wrestling Championship and European Championship National Team Selections in Ankara, which are included in the federation's activity program. We are trying to determine the national team team that will participate in the European Championship to be held in Moldova on 8-18 June. Our athletes from 68 provinces participated in the competition. There is another situation that makes us happy. Our athletes from the earthquake region also participated in our competitions. I would like to thank Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Mansur Bey.”
Athletes who came to Ankara from all over Turkey and participated in the competition in order to take part in the national team squad in the European Championship thanked Ankara Metropolitan Municipality for their support with the following words:
Selcan Cansever: “The tournament is very good, the participation is very high… Besides arm wrestling, I have participated in boxing tournaments before. I would like more tournaments like this to be organized.”
Seyfi Ozbey: “My goal is to be first in the tournament. I would like to thank Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.”
Esma Cam: “I participated in the tournament in order to be in the national team squad in the European Championship. I won first place and made new friends during the tournament.”
Oktay Okcu: “I participated in the tournament to be selected for the national team. I hope I will be successful.”
Melissa Ozdemir: “I come from Gaziantep Nurdağı. I joined the tournament to recover from the effects of the earthquake. It's been my motivation. I also liked Ankara very much.”
Hasan Özdemir (Taekwondo and Arm Wrestling Trainer): “I come from Gaziantep Nurdağı. I lost my wife and niece in the earthquake. I participated in the tournament with my daughter to connect our athletes to life and improve their morale. Arm wrestling is our ancestral sport, our young people also show great interest. I wish them all success.”
