Expressing that he presented the 100th Anniversary Anthem to the Turkish people, Fazıl Say said, “The idea father of this business is the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. It's not easy to write an anthem. It is not easy to find a particularly good poem. It was necessary to find a promising poem. We found Ayten Mutlu's poem 'Give Your Hand' and got in touch. I said that I wanted to improve my composition based on this poem. Since it was a poem written 30-40 years ago, it was necessary to make additions to it about the centennial and Atatürk. By completing the poem in this way, I made it an anthem. We did our rehearsals and got our record. Our orchestra and choir are also very good.”

“I think our people will love this anthem”

Say, stating that the anthems we sing today are all 100-year-old marches, said, “The İzmir Anthem, the National Anthem, the 10th Anniversary Anthem, they are all very old. It takes decades for an anthem to be loved and sung by the public. It is not easy. There is no such thing as the only 2023th Anniversary anthem will be mine in 100. There will be many projects. I composed a march that appealed to me, and we did it under the best conditions, with the opportunities provided by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. We made a good record and I think our people will like this anthem," he said.

“Our country will win a unique work”

Emel Akçay Özer, Director of AASSM, said, “The 100. When we met with Fazıl Say for the National Anthem, he wanted to present it to our nation. There was one condition of Fazıl Say, and that was to find a work according to his heart in which he could express the emphasis of 100 years beautifully. Now we are happy to be able to bring a unique work to our country," he said.

“Republican enthusiasm will flare up with this anthem”

Expressing that the Işılay Saygın Fine Arts High School Choir consists of 102 members, choir teacher İlhan Akyunak said, “It is a proud thing for us to sing an anthem composed by Fazıl Say. The recording phase was tremendous. The young people sang great. The harmony of the words with the composition is wonderful. We are lucky to be a part of this business. I hope this anthem will be on everyone's lips for 10s, 100s of years. The enthusiasm of the 100th anniversary will be ignited once again with this anthem and it will be sung for years like our 10th anniversary anthem.
