Taking action to ensure that school-age children have access to basic nutrients, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality ensures that families keep 800 liras in their pockets every month, thanks to the support it provides. While the Metropolitan Municipality provides 29 thousand lunch boxes support to primary and secondary school students, it does not leave university students alone with its soup stops and hot meal points.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has implemented exemplary projects in Turkey, fills the lunch boxes of primary and secondary school students with nuts and fresh fruit. The Metropolitan Municipality, which has provided 23 lunch boxes to 67 households to date, gives a breath of fresh air to low-income families with the support of snacks consisting of dried nuts and fresh fruit. There are 29 grams of roasted hazelnuts, 20 grams of raisins, tangerines, oranges and apples in the lunch box packages of primary and secondary school students who need supplements for their physiological and cognitive development.
800 lira per month stays in the pockets of families
Expressing that the daily cost of a student's lunch box is 40 TL, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Tugay said, "We continue to give our best support to ensure that the children of low-income and needy families, who are most affected by the ever-increasing food prices, do not have nutritional problems. With the Lunch Box Support, our children studying in primary and secondary education can both reach healthy food and an average of 800 lira per month stays in the pockets of the families," he said.
Pregnant nutrition package is also distributed
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is also expanding the “İzmir0” project, which provides support for the development of mothers and children aged 3-95, starting from the pregnancy period. The project, which started with home visits, continues with workshops and parent guidance program in 30 districts of the city. With the İzmir95 project carried out by the Social Projects Department, “Pregnant Nutrition Package” is also distributed to expectant mothers. Within the scope of the project, which set out with the slogan "Every child has a right to a good start", healthy food packages are distributed to the homes of mothers who want to benefit from this service, for 95 months, starting from the 7th month of their pregnancy until the end of the 9th month, reached by İzmir5 Early Childhood Unit.
Soup and dinner support for university students
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality delivers social aids to the citizens from infancy to university age. Metropolitan also provides regular lunch support to 2019 public special education schools where private students are educated since 29. Lunch is distributed to these schools for an average of 2 people every day. There are soup stops at 500 points to support university students. Soup was distributed to a total of 6 thousand 343 people at these stops. In addition, dinner is offered to students at 930 locations. A total of 6 thousand 571 dinners were distributed at Ege University Campus, Dokuz Eylül University Campus, İ.YTE University Campus, Katip Çelebi University Campus, Democracy University, Bakırçay University.
