'Late Roman and Byzantine Coins' Seminar Held at IAE

Pera Museum, in cooperation with the Mediterranean Civilizations Research Center (AKMED) and Istanbul Research Institute (IAE), prepared a seminar program on Late Roman and Byzantine coins. The program, which is open to the participation of undergraduate and graduate students doing research on old coins, will be held on May 6 in IAE. The deadline for those who want to participate in the event has been set as April 16.

Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Pera Museum, in cooperation with Koç University Suna & İnan Kıraç Mediterranean Civilizations Research Center (AKMED) and Istanbul Research Institute (IAE), is organizing an event on “Late Roman and Byzantine Coins” as part of the Anatolian Weights and Measures Collection. Seminar and workshop program for undergraduate and graduate students will be held face to face on May 6 at Istanbul Research Institute.

Suna & İnan Kıraç Mediterranean Civilizations Research Center (AKMED) Director Prof. Dr. The program, led by Oğuz Tekin and Pera Museum Anatolian Weights and Measures Collection Officer, Yavuz Selim Güler, aims to provide the necessary theoretical and practical infrastructure on coins to young researchers working on Late Roman and Byzantine period history and culture.

The one-day intensive program, which deals with the science of numismatics from an interdisciplinary perspective, consists of seminars and workshops. After the seminar on Late Roman and Byzantine coins, in the second part, researchers will conduct a detailed workshop on period coins in the museum collection.

Application conditions:

"Undergraduate and graduate students working in the fields of Late Roman and Byzantine research in the archeology, art history and ancient history programs of universities, by e-mail info@peramuzesi.org.tr until 16 April, with the title "Byzantine Coins Seminar_Name-Surname", and submit a one-page CV. They can apply to the seminar by submitting letters of intent not exceeding 100 words.”
