800-Year-old Historical 'Kaleiçi Bazaar' in Denizli Comes to Life Again

The second phase of the project, of which Denizli Metropolitan Municipality completed the first phase in the 800-year-old historical Kaleiçi Bazaar, continues. Emphasizing that with the project, they aim to make the historical bazaar, which has a history of 800 years, contribute more to tourism and economy, Mayor Zolan said, “We add beauty to the beauty of Kaleiçi.”

The first stage is over in Kaleiçi, the second stage continues

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, after completing the first phase of Denizli Kaleiçi Various Streets Top Cover Project and Facade Rehabilitation Project, continues at full speed for the second phase. Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Zolan visited the historical Kaleiçi Bazaar with a history of 800 years, which is the heart of the city, and met with the tradesmen and examined the ongoing works in accordance with the historical texture. Mayor Zolan was accompanied by Deputy Secretary General of Metropolitan Municipality Seval Gebeş and Head of Science Affairs Department Nuriye Çevni and their attendants. Mayor Zolan, who came together with the tradesmen in Kaleiçi Bazaar and wished them good luck, made an examination in the historical bazaar for a while. Stating that they have successfully completed the first phase of the renovation work they carried out in accordance with the historical texture in Kaleiçi and that the second phase works continue uninterrupted, Mayor Zolan said, “We add beauty to the beauty of Kaleiçi.”

The historical bazaar keeps the Ahi tradition alive

Noting that the tradition of the Ahi community has existed in the historical bazaar for centuries and Kaleiçi Bazaar has a great place in Denizli's ancient past, Mayor Zolan stated that they have implemented a project in line with the spirit of the ancient bazaar. Emphasizing that the historical Kaleiçi Bazaar is the heart of the city, Mayor Zolan said, “As we promised in our historical bazaar established by our ancestors 800 years ago, we have completed the first phase of Denizli Kaleiçi Various Streets Top Cover Project and Facade Improvement Project. Immediately after, we started our second phase work. While those who come to our historical bazaar will feel and experience that historical texture, our shopkeepers will find great comfort and comfort in terms of use within the framework of visual integrity.”

“Kaleici will be a center of attraction again”

Stating that the bazaar tradesmen gave great support to the project, Mayor Zolan said, “Our tradesmen brothers wanted, embraced and supported this project the most. As the work is completed, their satisfaction increases day by day. The face of our bazaar is changing, and we are all happy that the work we have done to convey the centuries-old shopping tradition to future generations is successful. Hopefully, when all our work is finished, Kaleiçi Bazaar will become one of the city's attractions once again. We aim for the historical bazaar to contribute more to the city's tourism and economy, and for our tradesmen to earn more.
