Aid Bridge Established Between Turkish Industrialists and Earthquake Zone

A crisis desk was created in the first hours of the earthquake in the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Working on a 24-hour basis, the crisis desk works in coordination with AFAD, Turkish Red Crescent and other institutions and contacts domestic and foreign manufacturers that produce emergency items.

Under the coordination of the deputy ministers, the managers of the subordinate and related institutions and organizations and the managers of the ministries take place at the crisis desk.

MATERIALS OF URGENT IMPORTANT

The crisis desk primarily contacted OIZs and business people close to the disaster area. In this way, emergency supplies such as packaged water, ready-made food, blankets, heaters, clothing, generators, construction equipment, containers, forklifts, and hygiene kits set off from the closest points to the region in the first hours of the earthquake.

HELP BRIDGE

The crisis desk built a bridge between municipalities and industrialists in the region where the earthquake took place, and sent a large number of mobile kitchens and ready-to-eat meals to the points of need. The equipment used by the search and rescue teams was shipped by planes. The crisis desk of the Ministry of Industry and Technology also directs the in-kind and cash aids of OIZs affiliated to the Organized Industrial Zones Supreme Organization (OSBÜK) to AFAD and Kızılay.

DISPATCH OF FOREIGN RESCUE TEAM TO THE REGION

While the search and rescue teams from foreign countries that came to Turkey reached Adana Şakirpaşa Airport from Istanbul, trucks were prepared with more than 300 buses from Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone, Mersin Organized Industrial Zone and provincial and district municipalities. Buses transported foreign personnel and trucks transported rescue equipment from the airport to the earthquake zone.

TEAMS ARE SENT TO DISASTER POINTS ACCORDING TO THEIR COMPETENCES

With the work of the crisis desk, 38 foreign personnel from 2 countries, including Azerbaijan, Russia, China, Spain, Japan, England, France, Pakistan, India, Taiwan, Austria and Malaysia, have been delivered to the region with their equipment. At Adana Şakirpaşa Airport, AFAD and Çukurova Development Agency, Adana Provincial Directorate of Industry cooperated. Rescue teams were dispatched according to their abilities, equipment and competencies.

AID MOBILITY

The crisis desk contacted the manufacturers of the requested materials immediately after AFAD, KIZILAY and other institutions reported their new needs. In this way, much faster access to tools and equipment was achieved in one go.

WORKS ON 24 HOURS BASIS

Coordination works of the crisis desk are carried out in mobilization on a 24-hour basis with the support of all relevant institutions and organizations. Regional development administrations, development agencies, investment support offices, KOSGEB directorates, TSE coordinators and TUBITAK teams also support the work in the field.

1.1 MILLION BLANKETS FROM UŞAK ONLY

Only under the coordination of Uşak Governorship, 1 million 122 thousand 523 blankets were prepared to be sent to the earthquake zone. 703 of the blankets were sent to the earthquake zone with 629 vehicles. Blankets carried by 153 vehicles were delivered to earthquake victims.

CONTAINER LIFE CENTER

Meanwhile, under the leadership of Ankara Chamber of Industry Chairman of the Board of Directors Seyit Ardıç, with the coordination of 40 professional committee presidents, efforts to establish a Container Living Center in an area to be determined in the earthquake zone have started. In the center, 21 square meters of containers with beds, kitchens, showers and toilets and heating system will be created.

300 CONTAINERS

The center will also include social components such as a cafeteria and a children's playground. 300 containers are planned to be deployed in the container living center. Containers whose production has been completed started to be brought to the field in ASO 2nd and 3rd OSB.
