After the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, the Ministry of National Education (MEB) prepared a seminar program to inform about 1,2 million teachers working throughout the country on issues such as “disaster and crisis management” and “post-disaster mental health”.
Ministry of National Education has prepared and put into practice the “Psychosocial Support Action Plan After the Earthquake” in order to carry out the education and training activities in a healthier way after the earthquake disaster in Kahramanmaraş.
In order to contribute to the activities carried out within the scope of the action plan, seminars on "loss and mourning process in children and adolescents" and "post-disaster mental health" were prepared for approximately 1,2 million teachers via distance education method via the Teacher Informatics Network (ÖBA).
With the trainings, it is aimed to inform teachers on issues such as “disaster and crisis management” and “post-disaster mental health”.
The aim of the seminars is to contribute to teachers in order to make students feel safe in the school and to facilitate their adaptation to the environment they are involved in, taking into account the level of disaster exposure of the students.
It covers all teachers, taking into account student transfers.
Taking into account the fact that there are student transfers from the provinces affected by the earthquake to other provinces, the seminars are broadcast through the IPA in a way that not only the teachers working in the earthquake region but also all teachers will benefit.
In the management of disaster and disaster-related crisis environments, the seminars planned to include the pre-disaster preparation process and post-disaster, "disaster and crisis management", "effects of disasters on individuals and society", "post-disaster mental health", "grief seen in children by age groups" reactions”, “strategies to help and support the child at school”, “transition from risk to resilience”, “emotion regulation” and “feeling of trust”.
