IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlushared the suffering of citizens in the Samandağ and Defne districts of Hatay, which experienced the earthquake disaster. Imamoglu, an earthquake survivor hugging him and crying, said, “We will stand up together. I'll be your victim. We'll all stand up together, okay? Get well soon. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğluvisited the Samandağ and Defne districts of Hatay, which experienced the earthquake disaster, together with CHP Hatay deputies Mehmet Güzelmansur, Serkan Topal, Kartal Mayor Gökhan Yüksel, Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat and Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık. İmamoğlu, who toured the district under the guidance of Samandağ Mayor Refik Eryılmaz, shared the pain of the earthquake victims. İBB Deputy Secretary Generals Arif Gürkan Alpay and Murat Yazıcı informed İmamoğlu about the work done in the district. Expressing his condolences and wishes to the grieving citizens, İmamoğlu then went to the AFAD Coordination Center established in front of the Municipality of Samandag. Thanking the employees for their efforts, İmamoğlu listened to the demands of the earthquake victims. Both AFAD employees and citizens stated that there was an important communication problem in the region and requested a base station urgently.

CITIZENS' “AFAD” REVOLT: “I BURIED 16 PEOPLE FROM MY FAMILY. WHY IS IT LATE?”

After Samandag, İmamoğlu went to Defne with his deputies, and visited the district with Mayor İbrahim Güzel. İmamoğlu replied to the citizens who complained about the lack of tents in the earthquake zone, "I am going to AFAD, I will speak what you say". Another citizen said, “How many days has passed, AFAD has not come here yet. Our dead stink inside. So we disappeared. They left us to our fate. There are people from other provinces. God bless them all. We've seen you too. But AFAD did not come here. I buried 16 people from my family. No one cared for these people. It's just us. There is no one but us, and there was no one”, revealing the drama experienced during and after the earthquake.

FROM EARTHQUAKE TO IMAMOĞLU: “SEEING YOU GAVE US STRENGTH”

Employees of the Istanbul Fire Department, which continues their work in the region, also met with İmamoğlu and shared the information that they had pulled 224 citizens alive from under the rubble in Defne. İmamoğlu said to the heroic employees who called him “Your support strengthens us” and said, “I am glad to have you. We will sit down and talk”, conveyed his feelings of gratitude. VISIT AFAD

After visiting Samandağ and Defne, İmamoğlu went to Hatay AFAD Center and met with the authorities and conveyed the problems and demands of the citizens to the relevant people.
