11 research projects are carried out with the support of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) for earthquakes with magnitudes of 7,7 and 7,6 affecting 107 cities in Kahramanmaraş.

TUBITAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal said that he visited the provinces where earthquakes were effective, and that they would start from Adana and make investigations all the way to Malatya.

Mandal reminded that they made an urgent project call in order to analyze the effects of earthquakes.

Stating that they started the “Natural Disasters Focused Fieldwork Emergency Support Program” by taking action on February 6, when the earthquakes occurred, Mandal stated that they evaluated the applications within 24 hours.

prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal said, “At the moment, 107 different projects are supported by TUBITAK. These projects became operational immediately after the earthquake. Nearly 57 researchers from 500 different institutions work day and night in the field. Our friends quickly transferred to the field.” he said.

THEY ARE TRYING TO GET SCIENTIFIC DATA

Pointing out that it is important to plan for the future with the data to be obtained from such studies, Mandal continued his words as follows:

“What our friends are trying to do is to get scientifically based data. Because there's a lot of hot data right now. We have architect professors in terms of earth sciences, civil engineering sciences and other fields. We have professors who research the social and psychological impact of the event. We have health sciences and mapping engineering professors. In other words, nearly 500 researchers from many disciplines are currently in the field. I thank them all.”

Mandal stated that if every difficult period is managed correctly, there is hope for the future.

Noting that they believe that the work in the field will also be hopeful, Mandal said, "Our researchers, with the responsibility of being in such a warm environment right after the event, are making an important effort to obtain the correct information and transfer it to the relevant institutions of our state." said.
