AFAD Announced the Data of the 4th Day! Number of Loss of Life 12.873 Number of Injured 62.937

While Turkey is struggling with the great destruction caused by the earthquake that took place on Monday, February 6, 2023, unfortunately the death toll is increasing. AFAD made a new statement for the number of people who lost their lives in the earthquake.

After two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 in Kahramanmaraş province, centered in Pazarcık and a magnitude of 7.6 in the center of Elbistan, 1.117 aftershocks occurred.

According to the latest information received from SAKOM, a total of 12.873 citizens lost their lives in the provinces of Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya and Elazığ; 62.937 citizens were injured.

A total of 24.727 search and rescue personnel, consisting of AFAD, PAK, JAK, JÖAK, DİSAK, Coast Guard, DAK, Güven, Fire Brigade, Rescue, MEB, NGOs and international search and rescue personnel, are working in the region. As a result of the negotiations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the number of search and rescue personnel from other countries is 5.709.

In addition, the total number of personnel working in the region, together with the number of field personnel assigned from AFAD, Police, Gendarmerie, MSB, UMKE, Ambulance Teams, Volunteers, Local Security and Local Support Teams, is 113.201.

Excavators, tractors, cranes, dozers, trucks, water trucks, trailers, graders, vacuum trucks, etc. A total of 5.557 vehicles, including construction equipment, were shipped.

31 governors, more than 70 district governors, 19 AFAD top managers and 68 provincial directors were assigned to disaster areas.

An air bridge was established to transport personnel and materials to the region with a total of 160 aircraft affiliated to the Air Force, Land Forces, Coast Guard and Gendarmerie General Command.

A total of 20 ships, 2 by the Naval Forces Command and 22 by the Coast Guard Command, were assigned to the region for personnel, material shipment and evacuation.

Disaster Shelter Group

10 tents and 137.929 blankets were shipped to 1.255.500 provinces that were heavily affected by the earthquake by AFAD, the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Red Crescent. The installation of 92.738 Family Life Tent has been completed.

Disaster Nutrition Group

A total of 95 mobile kitchens, 79 catering vehicles, 1 mobile soup kitchen, 4 mobile ovens, 39 field kitchens, 1 container kitchen and 86 service vehicles from the Red Crescent, AFAD, MSB, Gendarmerie and Non-Governmental Organizations (IHH, Hayrat, Beşir, Initiative Associations) shipped to the region.

3.307.982 hot meals, 807.662 soups, 4.619.937 lt. water, 3.249.536 bread, 2.694.543 treats, 395.782 beverages were distributed.

Disaster Psychosocial Support Group

4 Mobile Social Service Centers were assigned to the provinces of Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Osmaniye and Malatya. 1.502 personnel and 145 vehicles were dispatched to the region.
