Turkey mobilized to heal the wounds caused by the earthquakes of 7,7 and 7,6 magnitude, which are shown as one of the biggest disasters of the last century. Turkish industrialists also joined this mobilization for aid to the disaster victims.

In the aid corridor created by the industrialists, materials and equipment are delivered to the earthquake zone in order of importance. In the activities carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the needs lists of AFAD and the Turkish Red Crescent are taken into account. After the search and rescue efforts, the most important needs in the region are shelter, heating and personal cleaning, while industrialists focus on these areas in their aid.

WOUNDS ARE COVERED

The crisis center, which was put into operation in the Ministry of Industry and Technology right after the earthquake, coordinates the aid from organized industrial zones administrations, industrialists and SMEs on a 24-hour basis, and brings them together with the needy through aid organizations.

HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES

The Crisis Center, which foresees the priority of shelter for the survivors of the earthquake on the first day; It carries out studies for the safe and fast shipment of materials that provide temporary shelter such as tents and containers to the region. The products supplied from the industrialists are sent to the regions by TIRs arranged under the coordination of the crisis desk. The priority order of materials is based on AFAD and Turkish Red Crescent guidance and coordination between ministries.

TENT AND CONTAINER

Contacting tent and container manufacturers, the crisis center sends materials from industrial establishments all over Turkey to the region. In addition, industrialists who do not produce tents and containers but have the capacity to produce materials such as felt and metal parts are directed to this area.

WARM-UP NEEDS

In the region where harsh winter conditions are experienced in parallel with the need for shelter, heating has been at the top of the list since the first day as an important aid item. In order to protect earthquake victims from the cold, the needs for materials such as electric heaters, generators, blankets and sleeping bags are also met.

LIGHTING EQUIPMENT WITH GENERATORS

In this context, the crisis center also delivers thousands of heaters, generators and lighting equipment to the region. With the coordination of the crisis center, over one million blankets were shipped to the earthquake zone. Winter sleeping bags that will protect the victims at -7, -10, -11 and -20 degrees are distributed to other earthquake victims, primarily in tent-container cities, through warehouses established in the region.

PERSONAL CLEANING AND HYGIENE

In addition to shelter and heating, the needs of disaster victims also draw attention to personal hygiene and hygiene. With the support of industrialists and the organization of the crisis desk of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, office type containers including kitchens and toilets started to be established in the region. Trucks and containers converted into caravans were also delivered to the region.

PREFABRICATED BATHROOMS AND TOILETS

In order to meet the cleaning and hygiene needs of the disaster victims, mobile prefabricated bathrooms and toilets started to be shipped to the affected areas from the first day. In addition to all these, emergency aid products and supplies such as soap, body cleaning towels, wet wipes, sanitary pads, shampoo, disinfectant, diapers for children and the elderly, baby food, packaged ready-to-eat foods and mobile kitchens are also sent to the region at regular intervals.

24 HOURS WORK FROM OIZs

In the works carried out under the coordination of the Organized Industrial Zones Supreme Organization (OSBÜK) and the crisis desk, the production lines of the OIZs were allocated for the shelter and heating needs of the disaster victims. OIZs all over Turkey started working on a 7/24 basis from the first moments of the earthquake for the supply of all kinds of containers and tents, stoves and other heating materials.

SHIPMENT OF CRITICAL MATERIALS CONTINUES

Thanks to the aid bridge created by the crisis desk of the Ministry of Industry and Technology between OIZs and organizations, critically important materials reached many disaster points in 7 days. While the vast majority of nearly 10 thousand generators are distributed to the region, more than 90 thousand heaters supplied from industrialists are gradually delivered to those in need.
