Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer announced that they have decided that secondary and high school students in the provinces where the State of Emergency (OHAL) was declared due to the earthquake can be placed directly in school hostels across the country as free boarding, if they so desire.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, in his statement, due to the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş that occurred on 6 February; He reminded that the decision was taken to transfer the students studying in Adana, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye and Şanlıurfa to schools across the country in line with their preferences.

Noting that within the framework of the relevant legislation, students in the provinces where a state of emergency was declared due to the earthquake disaster are planned to be placed directly in school hostels as “free boarding” upon their request. In the related article titled “direct placement”, “students who are in need of protection due to extraordinary circumstances such as natural disasters and war. … are placed as free boarding schools in secondary education institutions that are suitable for their status.” He stated that the provision allows this plan to be put into practice.

Minister Özer said, “Middle school and high school students in the provinces where a state of emergency was declared due to the earthquake that took place on February 6, 2023, can be placed directly in school hostels across the country as free boarding, if they wish.” shared his knowledge.
