Turkey's first Police Museum made it to the finals in the European Museum of the Year competition. The final of the competition, organized by the European Museum Forum, will be held in Barcelona on 3-6 May 2023.

The Police Museum, where 2 thousand 100 works are exhibited, made it to the finals in the European Museum of the Year competition.

The History, Culture and Development of the Turkish Police Service is Transferred

The police museum consists of 6 sections. In one of these sections, there are personal belongings of the security martyrs.

In the museum; Up-to-date Police equipment, Police clothes, belongings of martyrs are exhibited. There are criminal and bomb disposal resuscitation areas. In addition, armored police vehicles are also on display in the open area.

Kerim Acar, Deputy Head of the Department in Charge of the Police Museum of the General Directorate of Security, said, “We decided to enter this competition in order to introduce the history, culture, change and development of the police museum on the national platform. We opened our museum during the pandemic period and it is our biggest goal to crown it with an award in such a way.”

The Police Museum conveys the history, culture and development of the Turkish Police Service to new generations.

The museum also reenacts important operations in the history of the Police. One of them is that incident in Mardin Nusaybin, where the operation dog Zehir saved the lives of 42 special operations police by shielding a hand-made explosive device. The poison died in that explosion, and his three-dimensional statue is also on display in the museum.

The final of the competition will be held in Barcelona on 3-6 May 2023.
