The world's first high-speed Harbin-Dalian high-speed train (YHT), which operates at high altitude and at very low temperatures in winter, has carried 670 million passengers in the ten years since it started operating. The aforementioned YHT was put into service as of December 1, 2012. The 921-kilometer railway line connects the northeastern city of Harbin and the port city of Dalian.

The Harbin-Dalian high-speed train, which can travel at a maximum speed of 300 kilometers per hour, passes through high-altitude areas. These areas often experience rain, snowfall and frost. So much so that the maximum temperature difference between winter and summer weather conditions on the route can exceed 70 degrees.
