İzmir Chamber of Commerce and İzmir Provincial Directorate of National Education signed a "Vocational and Technical Education" cooperation that will make a difference in vocational education. Students will meet with the sectors with the project, in which 76 of the committees operating under the Izmir Chamber of Commerce will be matched with 129 vocational high schools affiliated to the Izmir Provincial Directorate of National Education. The curriculum in schools will be planned and developed together with the relevant sector. Thus, the qualifications of graduates will be determined according to the needs of the business world.

The Vocational and Technical Education Cooperation Protocol Signing Ceremony held at İzmir Chamber of Commerce (İZTO) was attended by İZTO Chairman of the Board Mahmut Özgener, İzmir Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Murat Mücahit Yentür, İzmir Provincial National Education Deputy Director Medet Ekşi, İzmir Provincial National Education Branch Director Alaaddin Bayat, İZTO Council President Selami Özpoyraz, İZTO Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Cemal Elmasoğlu, İZTO Board Members Jülide Tutan Hergül and Serdar Gökhan Arıkan, İZTO Parliament Vice Presidents Mehmet Tahir Özdemir and Nevzat Artkıy, İZTO Council Members Adil Özyiğit, Faruk Hanoğlu, Feti Şen, Hakan Trout, Mehmet Sahver Ekmekçioğlu, Şevket Akçay and İZTO Secretary General Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tanyeri joined.

ÖZGENER: WE HAVE DIFFICULT TO FIND INTERMEDIATE STAFF

Speaking at the ceremony, İZTO Chairman of the Board Mahmut Özgener said, “From the day we took office, meeting the need for technical and intermediate staff is at the top of the problems that have arisen from our committees. This is not just a problem specific to Izmir. We are facing the same problem across Turkey, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. We have difficulties in finding qualified personnel as well as intermediate personnel. I believe that we have taken a very important step in solving the problem from its source with this protocol that we will sign with our Provincial Directorate of National Education. Dear Director, Dr. I would like to thank Murat Mücahit Yentür and his entire team for their cooperation.”

THE WAY TO GOOD HUMAN RESOURCES IS FROM GOOD EDUCATION

Referring to the importance of education in his speech, Özgener said, “The business world's need to find qualified personnel who are competent in developing and transforming production and marketing styles is increasing, and the way to well train human resources, which is our most important value, goes through good education. We have many vocational and technical high schools and vocational training centers that will provide the necessary infrastructure to achieve our goals. With our protocol, we will ensure that our Vocational High Schools and sector representatives are matched in order to establish this joint working infrastructure.”

RIGHT PEOPLE FOR THE RIGHT JOB

Özgener continued his words as follows: “The most important issue in our cooperation was to allow the process to be carried out under the one-to-one auspices of our sector representatives. In this way, we aimed to provide one-to-one communication with our sector representatives so that our Vocational High School students have more information about the field they study and shape their future in a more planned way by feeling a sense of belonging to the field they study. We believe that, with these joint works, we will overcome the lack of communication that we observe about transferring current expectations to the education system and matching the right person to the right job.”

YENTÜR: WE AIM TO STRENGTHEN THE RELATIONSHIP WITH EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT AND PRODUCTION

Pointing out that every investment in education is an important step towards building the future, İzmir Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Murat Mücahit Yentür said, “We should all strive to do more for the children of our country. We sincerely thank the valuable sector organizations who are always ready to support the improvement of the quality in education while building the future, and we look to the future with more hope with them. With cooperation protocols in Vocational and Technical Education; We aim to strengthen the education-employment-production relationship and to establish the School/Institution-Industry Cooperation that will provide the qualified workforce needed by the sectors at the highest level”.

76 COMMITTEES MATCHED WITH 129 VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS

Providing information on the protocol signed with İZTO, Yentür said, “With the protocol, each company will be matched with one or more vocational education institutions related to that company's field of activity. The fields and branches in these educational institutions will be revised according to sectoral and regional needs. 76 committees and 129 vocational high schools were matched with each other. The planning of granting scholarships to students who have been successful in their field, providing support for their projects and providing training materials has made the protocol more valuable.”

REQUESTED ELEMENT, NOT INTERMEDIATE ELEMENT

Yentür continued his words as follows: “Our vocational education institutions are the backbone of the country's industry and the future of our nation. With the education they receive here, our students will reveal their differences in business life in terms of both skills and competence, so they will be sought after rather than intermediate staff. I wish the "Vocational and Technical Education Cooperation Protocol", which will provide various opportunities in vocational education to our teachers and students in our institutions, and will bring us this excitement, will be beneficial. We would like to thank our Chairman of the Board of Directors of Izmir Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Mahmut Özgener and all his management”
