Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said, “Last year, the European Girls Computer Olympiad was held for the first time, hosted by Switzerland, in order to increase female students' interest in computers. We will host the second Olympics in Antalya on 16-23 October 2022.” said.

Minister Varank attended the TUBITAK 2016th Science Olympics Award Ceremony held at Antalya EXPO 29 Congress Center. Noting that 174 students were entitled to receive medals as a result of the exams held in the fields of computer, mathematics, biology, physics and chemistry, Varank said, “It doesn't matter whether the medal you win is gold, silver or bronze. These were never the criteria we valued. We never judged you by results alone. The main point that we value here is the effort and dedication you show at this age.” used his statements.

WILL CARRY IT TO THE TOP

Stating that the productive work in the training camps for two weeks will carry the young people to the top in the regional and international science Olympics, Varank emphasized that in 2021, the students won 5 medals, 23 gold, 32 silver, 60 bronze, and 2 honorable mentions at the international and regional science Olympics.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY MEETING

Mentioning the importance of holding the training camp in Antalya, Varank said, “I remember that we brought this magnificent hall to Antalya with the opening of EXPO. We are doing our consultations to bring the places around this place more to science and technology. We will see more of this field in science and technology. We will bring together science and technology alongside tourism and agriculture.” said.

THEY WILL Sweat

Underlining that the young people who passed the second stage this year will sweat in the Olympics, Varank said, “The full independence of a country is directly proportional to its independence in science and technology. In this context, every success you have achieved in the field of science and technology, every innovation you have introduced plays an important role in the strong future of our country. It enables our country to have a strong hand in the world arena. That's why we always say that every individual who pursues science, research, development, innovation and entrepreneurship is the crown of our heads. Those who know our President closely know the value he attaches to scientists and entrepreneurs.” she spoke.

ACTIVITY OF SKILLS

Stating that they support everyone who wants to do science and technology with TÜBİTAK programs, Varank said, “Previously, those who graduated from a place were expected to know one or two foreign languages. At least one of these languages will be a software language for the upcoming period. Along with coding ability, your algorithm creation skills will be questioned. The effectiveness of skills will come to the fore. Your ten fingers and keyboard will be your most valuable instruments. How well you can use the data, the results you will get from the data and what you can do with these results will show your difference. That's why coding and data analysis competence has gone down from university to secondary education and even to primary education. The better we can prepare our human resources for this change, the more successful we can be.” used the expressions.

EUROPEAN GIRLS COMPUTER OLYMPIC

Explaining the importance of the contribution it will make to the future of the country and the innovation ecosystem, Varank said, “I want to give good news that everyone will be proud of. Last year, the European Girls Computer Olympiad was held for the first time, hosted by Switzerland, in order to increase female students' interest in computers. On 16-23 October 2022, we will host the second Olympics in Antalya. Antalya brand will make our country proud in this field as well. I wish success to our girls who will represent our country in this Olympics. We want to see our girls come first in this Olympics.” said.
