Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, attended the additional protocol signing ceremony held between the Social Security Institution and the Turkish Pharmacists' Association to update the "Protocol on the Supply of Medicines from the Turkish Pharmacists' Association Members of the Social Security Institution".

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Bilgin stated that they gathered about the signing of a protocol that should be maintained every year between the Turkish Pharmacists' Association and the Social Security Institution and said, "Our aim here is to create an agreement in which the pharmacies, which are the final chain of the health system in Turkey, will fulfill the necessary responsibilities in terms of delivery and meeting the demands of our people. . Here, we reached an agreement on the understanding of both the prescription service fees of our pharmacies and the realization of discounts related to our institution. This agreement continues every year. Like all humanity, we have seen in detail how important the health system is during the pandemic process. Hopefully we are towards the end of the pandemic. However, the events have shown how important the work is, and how the comprehensively developed health system can save people from the brink of disaster. At a time when people died in hospital corridors in the world, the Turkish state, with the responsibility of the social state, came to the service of our people with the health system, achieved extraordinary successes, and this success was also evaluated and congratulated by the authorities of the international health system. For this, we congratulate all our health workers who take part in the health system and our pharmacists, who form an important link in this service, and thank them.

“The Turkish State is a Social State and Behind All Health Expenditures”

Stating that it is extremely important for the SGK, which is the most important institution of the social state, to fulfill its functions in terms of maintaining the service, Bilgin said, “The main function is to make the payments system that will ensure this continuity. Our Social Security Institution has also done its best in this regard. Whether it is a public hospital or a private hospital, no one has had to pay for treatments related to covid in this process. Public institutions and the social security system have paid for all this. Of course, the social security system gives deficits in addition to these expenditures. This is a requirement of the social state; Social services Financing the health system is the most important part of our social policies. There's nothing to criticize about it, it's something to be proud of. The Turkish State is a social state and stands behind all health expenditures.

Bilgin emphasized that the social security system has expanded to cover almost the entire population and said that these are an indicator of Turkey's success.

“The Health System Cannot Run Without Pharmacies”

Stating that the services of pharmacies, which have an important role in medicine, are unforgettable, and that many pharmacists lost their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic, Bilgin continued as follows:

“We know that our nation will never forget the services of our healthcare workers during this period with a sense of loyalty. In this process, the agreement we reached with the Turkish Pharmacists Association is also very important. The functioning of the health system cannot be realized without pharmacies. The last stop that each of us turns to when we are sick is the pharmacy. For this, I would like to thank TEB and its board members for their sensitivity. An agreement was reached between SGK and TEB, and it was signed. We want to share this with the Turkish public.”
