Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank stated that with their regional development policies, they want to spread prosperity across the country in a more balanced way and to create a fully developed Turkey.

Minister Varank visited the Governor's Office in Niğde, where he came to make various contacts, signed the book of honor and met with Governor Yılmaz Şimşek for a while. The drone named "Ejder", developed by university students Engin and Emre Eralp and placed second in its category at 2020 TEKNOFEST, was introduced to Varank, who then moved to Niğde Municipality. Minister Varank promised students a place for the development of the drone in the IT Valley in Istanbul. Varank then received information from President Emrah Özdemir about the work done in the city.

A VISIT TO NİĞTAŞ MICRONIZED CALCITE FACTORY

Minister Varank also visited the Niğtaş Micronized Calcite Factory and received information about the products produced from the authorities. with the workers sohbet Varank, who visited the field with a vehicle, examined the production stages on site.

OPENED GREEN ENERGY HOUSE AND SILICUM PURIFICATION CENTER

Attending the opening ceremony of Ömer Halisdemir University Green Energy House and Silicon Purification Center after their visit, Varank said that since his last visit, the positive developments in Niğde have been clearly noticed. Varank, referring to the comfort of the 325-kilometer road in the city he came to by using the Ankara-Niğde highway, stated that this work, which is world-class in every aspect, suits Niğde.

SUPPORT TO DEVELOPMENT

Noting that while bringing the nation together with the best services, on the other hand, the future of the provinces is shaped with comprehensive regional development policies, Varank emphasized that they work day and night to support projects that will serve the development of Niğde together with the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Development Agency and KOP Regional Development Administration.

holistic view

Stating that they will be opening important projects in Niğde, Varank said, “We want to spread prosperity across the country in a more balanced way and create a fully developed Turkey with the regional development policies we implement. But as you know, development is a multidimensional and multi-sectoral concept. That's why we evaluate our provinces from a holistic perspective and focus on the areas that will have the most impact. We support the development moves of our cities, sometimes starting from an innovation center, sometimes from a textile workshop, sometimes from a strawberry orchard.” he said.

SOLAR POTENTIAL

“Of course, we also do extensive analysis to decide where to start.” said Varank, “For example, if we look at Niğde in particular; Of course, due to the availability of natural resources, calcite, traditionally leatherworking and agriculture, and recently rapidly developing industry have important places in the economy of this city. One of the fields that will shape the future of Niğde is solar energy. The state of the energy sector based on fossil fuels is clear. Unfortunately, we have all been experiencing price increases, which are on everyone's agenda lately, due to international markets. When you consider climate change and environmental impacts, fossil fuels are about to expire. Therefore, Niğde can achieve significant success by using its solar energy potential.” used the expressions.

SUPPORT RENEWABLE ENERGY

Explaining that they focused on the solar energy potential of the region together with the KOP Regional Development Administration, Varank said, “We cooperated with Ömer Halisdemir University. The Nanotechnology Application and Research Center here has a significant accumulation of knowledge. By using and developing it, we have developed projects that will have an impact all over the country. As you already know, energy production from renewable energy sources is one of the priority issues of our country. In recent years, serious investments have been made in this field, both in R&D and commercial dimensions, and they continue to be made. As the ministry, we provide very attractive support to investments that will generate electricity from renewable energy sources. In fact, with the new regulation announced by our President, we are expanding the scope of the support given to investments for unlicensed production.” said.

MULTIPLIER EFFECT

Explaining that there are two important issues in terms of the development of the sector, Varank said, “The first is to increase the domestic rate in solar panel production processes. The second is the development of technologies that will allow the storage and uninterrupted use of the electricity produced to ensure supply security. The projects we are opening today will contribute to the development of these two issues in our country and create a multiplier effect in the sector.” he said.

DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL

Stating that in the production of solar panels in Turkey, processes other than silicon purification can be done with domestic and national resources, Varank emphasized that the silicon issue is a critical part of the business, and it is not easy to make the desired breakthrough in the sector without solving the foreign dependency here. Reminding that they started the "Silicon Purification Research Project" for this reason, Varank stated that the project deserves full support due to its potential benefits.

CRYSTAL SILICUM INGOT INGOT PRODUCTION

Giving information about the project, Varank said, “Thanks to the established system, industrial size single crystal silicon ingot ingots were produced for the first time in our country. Thus, the lack of national technology experienced in the purification of silicon was largely eliminated. Seeing this potential, private sector representatives immediately became interested in technology. The most concrete indicator of this is that the Kalyon group applied to the know-how of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University for the investment to be made in the field of silicon. As a result of the preliminary negotiations, I know that a goodwill protocol has been prepared and the signing phase has been reached. Hopefully this will be implemented soon.” used the expressions.

UNIKOP ENERGY HOUSE PROJECT

Stating that they have officially opened the "UNIKOP Energy House" Project, which is carried out in cooperation with the KOP Regional Development Administration and Ömer Halisdemir University, Varank said that electricity generation from solar energy is disadvantageous because it can only be produced during the daytime. Minister Varank emphasized that the electricity produced should be stored and that besides different battery technologies, it is possible to store electricity as hydrogen through fuel cells. Explaining that with the UNIKOP Energy House Project, green energy, hydrogen and fuel cells will be heard much more in the coming period, Varank mentioned that the private sector has serious investment plans to make Turkey a green energy production center.

GREEN TRANSFORMATION

Reminding that the green transformation of the economy has now become a necessity due to both the EU Green Agreement compliance policies and the obligations of the Paris Climate Agreement, Varank said, “We already include green transformation at the center of all our development policies. Renewable energy is at the forefront of these policies. Personally, I sincerely believe that these innovative projects supported by our KOP administration and carried out by Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University will reinforce the claim of both the region and our country in this field, and that Niğde can lead Turkey in this field. As long as we continue to work in the right areas at the right time.” he said.

THE WORLD IS RANKED FOR TURKISH UAVS AND AUAVS

Explaining that Turkey is on the agenda of the world with UAVs and SİHAs and unmanned aerial vehicles, Varank said that many countries, especially Europe, are lining up to buy UAVs. Emphasizing that this achievement is achieved by young and talented engineers investing in the right technology at the right time, Varank noted that they will break new ground with a youth who can develop, produce and sell to the world, not using technology.

After the speeches, Varank opened the Green Energy House and Silicon Purification Center and made examinations.

On the other hand, Tuncay Yamaner, a student of the Faculty of Fine Arts, presented the charcoal portrait of July 15 martyr İlhan Varank to Minister Varank.

AK Party Niğde deputies Yavuz Ergun and Selim Gültekin, Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Uslu and many guests attended.
