Ankara Metropolitan Municipality aims to reintegrate disadvantaged children into society with the "Future and Hopes Project". Within the scope of the project, which was the artistic director of the master actor Turgay Tanülkü, the children working on the street got acquainted with the theater and began to receive art education.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which continues to implement social responsibility projects in the capital, is now introducing the disadvantaged children who are members of the “Children Working in the Streets Center” to theatre.

The children, who participate in the theater activities under the artistic direction of the master actor Turgay Tanülkü, receive art education at the Youth Park Necip Fazıl Sahne.

ALL CHILDREN ARE EQUAL

Children who came to the "Centre for Children Working in the Streets" affiliated to the Social Services Department and were interested in theater were selected for the "Tomorrows and Hopes Project", which was initiated in line with the understanding of "all children are equal" in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Social Affairs, Başkent Theaters.

Within the scope of the project, in which all stages of the process of preparing a theater play are taught practically on stage, it is aimed to reintegrate disadvantaged children into society.

LESSON FROM A MASTER ARTIST

Stating that he is happy to come together with the children working on the street in this project, the master actor Turgay Tanülkü expressed his thoughts by saying, "We are trying to create an environment where all children are equal and their relations and togetherness are strengthened and they can say hello to each other."

Tuğba Aydın, Project Coordinator of the Department of Women and Family Services, said, “We wanted to work with disadvantaged groups so that these children could be equal with other children. We tried to offer equal opportunities to disadvantaged children. We want all children to be equal, we want all children to laugh”, while Baskent Theaters Theater and Drama Instructor Burçin Tarhan made the following evaluations:

“It is a very valuable project for us. We say, 'There should be no youth, children or anyone who is not involved in theater in Ankara', we want to reach everyone. Art development causes a completely different perception in children, different perceptions of the world. We have been giving lessons for about two months with our children, and at the end of this process, they will perform a theater play on the stage. Everyone will follow them.”
