239 Million Cars Hit the Roads in China

Travel records were broken during the Spring Festival and New Year holidays in China. According to the statement made by official institutions, approximately 130 million passengers traveled during the holiday. The Ministry of Transport reported that this number represents an increase of 31,7 percent compared to the number of people traveling during the Spring Festival holiday of the previous year.

During the seven-day holiday, which took place from January 31 to February 6, the number of trips by train amounted to 30,3 million, while 91,27 million trips were made by road. On the other hand, while the number of trips made by ship exceeded 3 million, more than 5 million people preferred the airline.

The number of passengers behind the wheel on the highway was higher this year during the holiday. A total of more than 239,46 million vehicles travel on the country's highways; it was stated that this corresponds to an increase of 9 percent compared to the level recorded in the previous year's Spring break.

On the other hand, movie theaters also broke box office records during the holiday. According to the information given, as of February 6, the sixth day of the holiday, the box office revenue of the cinemas in the main part of China during the Spring Festival exceeded 6 billion yuan ($943 million).
