The Ministry of National Education has increased the number of BİLSEMs from 81 in 183 provinces to 279 as a result of the efforts to increase the access of gifted students to BİLSEMs. MEB aims to increase the number of BİLSEM to 2022 by the end of 350.
The Ministry of National Education expands BİLSEMs, which support gifted students in developing their talents. As a result of the efforts to increase access to BİLSEMs, the number of BİLSEMs, which was 81 in 183 provinces, increased to 2021 by the end of 225. Working to make BİLSEMs more accessible in 2022, the MEB increased the number of BİLSEMs to 279. MEB aims to increase the number of BİLSEM to 2022 by the end of 350.
There are 554 workshops in BİLSEMs, 183 of which are general talent, 232 are music and 969 are visual arts. In BİLSEMs in 81 provinces, a total of 12 thousand 579 students receive education, of which 43 thousand 954 are in primary school, 10 thousand 842 in secondary school and 67 thousand 375 in high school.
Registration application for 2 thousand 657 products from BİLSEMs
BİLSEMs are also working successfully on intellectual property. BİLSEMs, which made 2021 thousand 184 product registration applications in 394, including 2 patents, 63 utility models, 16 thousand 2 designs and 657 brands; 13 products were registered, including 39 patents, 1.245 utility models, 8 designs and 1.305 brands.
Making an evaluation on the subject, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said: “As the Ministry, we are constantly improving the infrastructure and opportunities of the BİLSEMs, which we provide support by implementing different education programs so that our gifted students can improve their abilities. At BİLSEMs, we attach great importance to product development studies for patent, utility model, design and trademark registration. On the other hand, we are trying to increase the accessibility of BİLSEMs in all our provinces and districts. In particular, we do not want our gifted students to travel long distances between districts in order to go to BİLSEM. For this purpose, while the number of BİLSEM was 81 in 183 provinces, we increased this number to 2021 by the end of 225. Our target in 2022 was to open 125 new BİLSEMs and increase this number to 350. We have also completed our necessary planning. In this context, we opened 54 new BİLSEMs and increased the number of BİLSEMs to 279 as of February. We will increase the number of BİLSEM to 2022 by the end of 350.”
