The Ministry of National Education continues its efforts to expand pre-school education, aiming to build 2022 new kindergartens and 3 thousand new nursery classes by the end of 40. So far, 59 new kindergartens and 6 new kindergarten classes have been opened. Thus, the enrollment rate in the 950-year-old group increased from 5% to 78%.

With the works carried out within the scope of the project, the tender for the construction of 214 new kindergartens was completed. 1095 kindergartens whose plots were determined were included in the investment plan.

Stating that they are making great efforts to facilitate access to pre-school education in all 81 provinces, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said:

“We want to expand access to pre-school education in order to increase equal opportunities in education. In this context, we will build 2022 new kindergartens and 3 new nursery classes by the end of 40. We made the necessary plans. We started and are carrying out the project with the patronage and support of Ms. Emine Erdoğan. As a first step, we started the construction of 12 new kindergartens in Istanbul, each with 100 classrooms. We will build 2022 new kindergartens in Istanbul by the end of 1.000. By the end of 2022, the schooling rate, which was 3% in the 14 age group at the beginning of the project, will be increased to 50%; We aim to increase the enrollment rate from 4% in the 35-year-old group to 70%, and from 5% in the 78-year-old group to 100%. Our planning towards this goal is working successfully. By the end of 5, we have reached the target we set for February 2022 for the 2021-year-old group. 5% of our children in the 90-year-old group continue to pre-school education.”

Work continues for the construction of 1632 kindergarten

Underlining that they have made all the necessary plans to build 3 thousand new kindergartens, 40 thousand new kindergarten classes and to reach the schooling goals for the 3-5 age group, Özer said: “In this context, we have put into service 59 new kindergartens and 6 thousand 950 new kindergarten classes, and our students continue their education. they started. The tender for 214 new kindergartens has been completed. In addition, we have included 1.095 new kindergartens, whose plots have been determined, into the investment program. Currently, the process for 1.368 kindergartens is progressing successfully. For our target of 3 new kindergartens, the provinces and districts where the remaining 1.632 kindergartens will be built were determined. The works to determine the places and plots where the kindergartens will be built continue. We hope to complete these works in a short time. Thus, we will approach the OECD average by providing a very significant increase in the rate of pre-school enrollment, just as we have reached the OECD average in other education levels. I would like to thank all my colleagues who contributed to the process.”
