The Preveze Class Submarine Half-Life Modernization Project initiated by the SSB has completed another important milestone. After the successful completion of the sea acceptance trials of the Inertial Navigation System, CTD Progs, Chilled Water System and Static Inverters, which were required to be delivered before the design phases were completed according to the contract, the Critical Design Phase of the Project was approved by the SSB.
With the approval of the Critical Design Phase, the design phases of the entire Project were successfully completed. Simultaneously, the platform integration of the MUREN Combat Management System was completed.
Preveze Class Submarine Modernization
The Half-Life Modernization Project of Preveze Class Submarines includes the modernization of TCG Preveze (S-353), TCG Sakarya (S-354), TCG 18 Mart (S-355) and TCG Anafartalar (S-356) submarines in the Naval Forces inventory. Within the scope of the project, STM carries out the platform integration activities of all products supplied by STM-ASELSAN-HAVELSAN and ASFAT Partnership.
Undertaking important tasks in submarine modernization and construction projects of the Turkish Navy, STM successfully completed two AY Class Submarine Modernizations in 2015 as the main contractor.
STM also undertakes critical tasks in the New Type Submarine with Air Independent Propulsion System (Reis Class), which makes significant contributions to the implementation of Turkey's National Submarine Project. For this purpose, STM passed a historical milestone by producing the Torpedo Section (Section 2021) containing torpedo tubes for the first time in Turkey in 50, becoming one of the few countries in the world that can carry out such studies.
STM has been operating as the main contractor in the modernization of Pakistan's French-built Agosta 2016B Khalid Class Submarines since 90. In the Agosta 90B Modernization project, the delivery of the first submarine has been completed, and STM continues the modernization studies of the other two submarines in Pakistan.
It is the first project in which STM, the first engineering company to develop submarine building and modernization capabilities in Turkey, assumed the role of prime contractor in a submarine modernization project for a foreign country. STM continues its intensive studies on unmanned surface and underwater systems, national submarine design studies and STM 500 mini submarines.
