Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, said, "We want to complete Kanal Istanbul without spending from the general budget." Minister Karaismailoğlu also gave a date regarding the ongoing airport and railway projects.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu met with the Economy Correspondents Association, and the Kanal Istanbul project was on his agenda. He said that they are working on alternative finance models for the project.

“Our top priority here is that the cost of construction does not impose any burden on the general budget. Our negotiations with the world's most important infrastructure companies continue.”

Çukurova Airport will be put into service next year

Minister Karaismailoğlu also spoke about the airports under construction.

“Çukurova Airport was a gangrenous business that has been talked about for years. We got it in order. In December 2022, we will put Çukurova Airport into the service of Turkey. Yozgat and Artvin airports will follow.”

Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the railway projects will also increase and gave the following information:

“From now on, we have entered a railway-oriented investment period. Railway investments will rise a little more, reaching 2023 percent in 60. Hopefully, we will put the Ankara-Sivas high-speed train line into service within the next year.”

“The budget will be formed by the project revenues”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu said that they aim to implement their projects with their own income and gave a date.

“When we come to 2040, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, which has the 4 largest investment budgets in Turkey, will now become an institution that generates its own budget with its own projects, generating income with the projects it carries out without taking even a penny from the general budget.”
