When we send this out, we will be one of the top 10 countries in space represented by its own satellite from now on. These are important and world-class works. Reminding that it is the 19th year of the AK Party government, Karaismailoğlu said that in 2002, there was a 6 thousand kilometer divided road network in Turkey, and these were unsafe and poor quality roads. Expressing that there is an investment deficit not only in highways, but also in airlines and railways, Karaismailoğlu said, “There was a very serious infrastructure investment deficit in 2002. You need to solve this huge infrastructure gap in a short time. As a state, it is clear in your budget. You can't do these projects with this budget," he said.

Emphasizing that it is difficult to make large-cost projects with only the public budget in a short time, Karaismailoğlu noted that for this reason, they have implemented the public-private cooperation projects that they have implemented very successfully. Explaining that they are one of the countries that implement the public-private cooperation model most successfully, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu continued as follows:

“In the last 19 years, we have carried out a public-private cooperation project worth 30 billion euros. We have invested over 1 trillion 100 billion liras in transportation infrastructure in the last 19 years. 20 percent of this is build-operate-transfer, that is, public-private cooperation.”

Referring to the Northern Marmara Motorway, Karaismailoğlu reminded that the Northern Marmara Motorway is an 8 billion dollar project. Pointing out that the mandate of the operator on the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge will end in 2027, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that they are planning projects such as the Northern Marmara Motorway, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Eurasia Tunnel, İzmir Motorway, Osmangazi Bridge and Marmaray with the mind of the state. Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu, who stated that they are thinking decades ahead by considering the future mobility, said that if these projects are not carried out, a completely locked-down Istanbul will emerge.

KARAİSMAİLOĞLU RESPONSE TO THE CRITICISM THAT "HE WAS BANNED TO FUTURE GENERATIONS"

Noting that an airport where 200 thousand people are employed, without leaving a penny from the state, was built in an area that has no economic value, Karaismailoğlu announced that 25 billion euros will be paid to the state in 22 years. Karaismailoğlu said, “Although the number of vehicles increased thanks to the safe and comfortable roads, the accident and loss of life decreased” and underlined that the annual benefit of the Northern Marmara Motorway to Turkey is 2,5 billion liras.

Responding to the criticism that he left a debt to future generations, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu made the following assessments:

“If these projects were not carried out, neither the infrastructure nor the growth would have happened. The new generation would make plans for 'how can I build this much infrastructure'. We will leave a ready infrastructure. Then, how it will develop production, tourism and industry, its plans will now be made. We contribute 30 billion TL annually with projects worth 15 billion euros (public-private partnerships). There are direct benefits of saving time, fuel and environment. It indirectly contributes to the economy, production, employment and tourism.”

Underlining that large projects increase production and employment on the one hand, and bring comfort to the citizens on the other, Karaismailoğlu said, “Our projects bring mobility and vitality to the places they go, like a river. Indirect benefits include developments in production, employment and tourism. One of the most important build-operate-transfer projects is the Çanakkale Bridge. It is running very successfully. Karaismailoğlu, who also touched on the works of Kanal Istanbul, said that the work on the project continues. Explaining that the transportation roads are currently being built, Karaismailoğlu stated that the construction of the bridge has started. Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “Our negotiations and preparatory work for the main tender continue. The only reason for the delay is that we have an extraordinary work to manage and undertake the construction of this project with its own revenues, without any burden on the general budget. We are trying to overcome this project without burdening the general budget,” he said.

Karaismailoğlu said, “Our rail system investments continue in Kocaeli, Bursa, Gaziantep, Konya, Kayseri, in important metropolitan cities Ankara and Izmir,” Karaismailoğlu said, adding that rail systems are costly projects and that they help as the Ministry according to their intensity.

Noting that the rail system works continue in Istanbul, Karaismailoğlu stated that there are ongoing 103-kilometer metro investments in Istanbul.

Emphasizing that the most important of these is the Gayrettepe-Airport Metro line, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said:

“It is 37,5 kilometers long. When finished it will be the fastest metro in Turkey. It has a speed of 120 kilometers. Domestic signaling will be used for the first time in Turkey. We start the tests of the first train on Monday. We will run the train. We will go by train from Kağıthane to Istanbul Airport. We are planning to open it in the first months of next year. Halkalı-There is also the Istanbul Airport side of it. This is 31,5 kilometers long.”

Noting that they aim to complete all 103 rail system lines with a total length of 7 kilometers in 2023, Karaismailoğlu said, “The TL equivalent of the 103 kilometer rail system line is over 60 billion liras. As a ministry, we are doing our part more than enough.” said.
