Çeşme's Infrastructure is Preparing for the Tourism Season

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality İZSU General Directorate is preparing the infrastructure of Çeşme, whose population exceeds 1 million in the summer months, for the tourism season. Teams in the district are carrying out comprehensive cleaning work on sewer lines. With the work of 6 teams working simultaneously in the field, flood risk and odor formation in the region is prevented.

İZSU General Directorate teams are carrying out cleaning work on the sewer lines in Musalla District within the scope of preparations for the tourism season in Çeşme. In the area known as Çeşme Marina, which is one of the main arteries of the district, 6 teams work simultaneously 7 hours a day, 24 days a week to ensure that the cleaning is completed in a short time and traffic is not interrupted.

“We will prevent floods and odor”

Providing information about the work, İZSU Çeşme Technical Unit Supervisor Turgay Toksoy said, “We are cleaning the sewer line that transmits the wastewater of our Musalla, İnönü, Dalyan, 16 Eylül and Sakarya neighborhoods to the pumping station. The aim of our work is to prevent floods and odor. Çeşme Marina area is where businesses are concentrated; Therefore, it is a region where there is a lot of domestic waste. "With the cleaning work we carry out here, we eliminate the domestic waste accumulated within the line," he said.

Stating that they are working hard with 6 teams to prevent traffic disruption and citizens from suffering, Toksoy said, “Çeşme is a district with intense population growth in the summer months. As İZSU, we strive to offer comfortable living spaces to our citizens in all seasons; "We attach great importance to the work here," he said.

The cleaning work carried out on the sewer line was also welcomed by the local people. Musalla Neighborhood Headman Önder Soma said, “Our neighborhood is the oldest residential area of ​​Çeşme and the neighborhood with the highest population density. For this reason, the marina area and its surroundings are a very important area. The population of our neighborhood increases significantly during the summer months.
