Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality will work on an alternative discharge line for the sewer collector line in order to prevent possible floods in heavy rains in Izmit district train station. The sewerage connection line works to be carried out by ISU General Directorate between October 10-15 will be carried out between 23.00-06.00 due to the heavy traffic in the region.
OVERFLOW IN EXCESSIVE RAIN
The wastewater collector line, built in the form of an existing box culvert coming from the direction of Izmit District Ömerağa Mahallesi Cumhuriyet Caddesi, continues on the side of the Izmit Train Station and passes under the railways and connects to the sewage collector line on Salim Dervişoğlu Street and goes to the ISU Beach Road Wastewater Treatment Plant. The wastewater collector line, which acts as the main carrier, operates full under normal conditions, and in extreme rainfall, it overflows from the inspection chambers around Izmit Train Station and TCDD Lodging Houses and poses a great risk for human health.
WORKING AT NIGHT
The General Directorate of ISU will work to connect the existing 1400 mm diameter reinforced concrete pipe sewer line to the existing wastewater collector line, which is located on the north side of the Railway Station tram line in order to avoid problems. The work, aimed at creating an alternative discharge that will act as insurance, will start on Saturday, October 10th, and will continue until October 15th.
TRAFFIC REGULATION WILL BE DONE
Due to the intense vehicle and tram passage in the region, the connection works will be carried out between 23.00-06.00 at night. Due to the work, traffic regulation will be made by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality UKOME.
